'Got a ~3-year-old bull down Wednesday, NE NM, .338 Win at about 70 yards off the sticks. Not the most challenging hunt, but a fantastic experience and lots of laughs. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/09/full-40213-361932-bison1.jpeg)

How far could you of shot comfortably with that rig and your ability? Got some info on the bullet? Nice pic.

'Don't know how to judge whether I'm being sarcastic my azz. Don't you have someone to teach? Piss off. I've been nothing but complimentary since my initial response to your, and I quote, "I'm here to teach" introductory post. What a *&^%$#@ odd duck.

Im REALLY sorry Creekrunner. I TRULY was asking out of an attempt to learn. I didnt even consider that it was a put down. You seem so thick skinned and I thought I made it real clear I was serious and trying to learn. Ive also posted several times lately about learning to extend my shooting range(very limited). I have also posted on numerous occasions that I am not a particularly good shot. I am impressed with your memory and you are a noticer(as I am.) I do think you misquoted me a little on the teaching and it wasnt an introductory post. But i degress.... Once again, Im sorry if I offended you, was not my intention at all. I hope this doesnt take away from your Bison thread.

'Accepted. Let's start over. The range is solely limited by me. I'm an under 200 shooter.

Heck yes That is going to fill the freezer with a lot of very good grub! Are you going to make a rug out of it and either do a shoulder or euro mount?

Thanks guys. Just a euro. I don't have room for a shoulder mount or a rug. I gave the hide to the guide. 'Looking forward to the steaks!

I dont know much about their vitals, but thats a big animal for a target. Shooting off sticks is a stalkers method but it’s not a long range proposition. 150 off sticks is a good distance, 200 is a pretty good poke. Big animal they are but hit one in the wrong spot and they take a long time to die. As with most kinds of hunting, it’s best to keep ranges reasonable to ensure good placement
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

As with most kinds of hunting, it’s best to keep ranges reasonable to ensure good placement That is about what I say standing with sticks for me Tx and Creek. If I can use sticks standing and lean on something that might be further. The way for a shooter to find their limitations is to practice from field positions to learn what those limitations are and establish a baseline of what they and their equipment can do. Most of the time the most inconsistent part of the shooting system of gun, ammo, optics and shooter is the shooter. Establish your own limitations and stay in those in the field. If your shooting situation the cross hairs are not solidly stable within the vital zone on game do not take the shot what ever the situation. Reposition if possible of work for a better shot. Better to admire the critter than make a bad shot. Creekrunner that sounds like a lot of fun and work after the shot. Congratulations
