I'm firing my primary DR of almost 30 years. Need a recommendation for a primary DR that takes Tricare Prime in Arlington/Ft Worth/Grand Prairie area. First-hand knowledge only please. TIA

Have you looked at the Tricare Provider Directory they have a quality score that can help. You can then ask if anyone knows the doctor by name. I found a couple of Specialists that way.

Good morning. Guess I’m doing it backwards. I was trying to get names and then compare to the list. I’ve looked for specialists but not for a primary since I retired in 93.

Same year I did but I'm now on Tricare for Life.

I wouldn’t recommend mine but know how to deal with him.

I just turned 80. No idea how many doctors I see. About to go for MRI on my worn out back.

Tricare prime is funny, they only let so many people on the contract and then they dont let anyone else in the area on.
So you end up getting people sometimes that were just the first ones to put in for it. This can be a problem because there is no quality criteria or feedback or cancelling, once a doc is on prime contract they are on it and taking a space from a quality doc that might want to get on.

Just letting you know the system is sort of rigged for not the best docs. I am a big fan of choice, but in the tricare prime arena the choices are very limited and may not be good. Hope you get lucky and can find a good one.

You are a lot of time much better off doing tricare for life (if upu have that option) as that acts much more like a typical PPO plan.

Or if you are medicare age, then use the medicare as primary and tricare as secondary and then upu have a lot more options as well.
