I know when I buy anything that I add onto a gun that I'm buying that for me and I know it adds next to zero value to the gun. It always shocks me when guys with a few extra list their gun at its real value plus retail value of all the extras.

I don’t agree with this. A 100 dollar Harris bipod is worth $100 on a gun. A $400 Leupold scope is worth $400 on a gun. A cheap bipod or scope doesn’t add any value but quality accessories do.

Truth is relative based on a person’s perspective.
I’ve got a rifle for sale here. Take a look and tell me how I’m priced.
Honestly curious what thoughts are. I’ve got thick skin.

While I agree the items have value but if the potential buyer doesn’t want those accessories they likely don’t care nor do they want to fool with selling them.

I ran into this recently a guy had a $300 sure fire light on his pistol. I didn’t want the light but he insisted it added $300 to the gun. I said fine if it’s worth $300 you keep it and sell it then I don’t want it.

I hope people don’t think I am a tire kicker. I have bought thousands off here this year alone. I am not looking to steal things but I only buy what I perceive to be a good deal. By that I don’t mean I want things for pennies on the dollar but if in five minutes I can get online and find it elsewhere cheaper I ain’t buying yours.

Most people don't want the $100 bipod or the $400 scope, they would rather buy their own accessories. The rare exception are extra mags, but even those aren't worth $30 even if you paid $30. So most accessories are not worth the value paid to MOST buyers.

While I will agree that “some” people aren’t looking for accessories they are looking for some kind of deal or they would just go buy the product at the store for retail. Sometimes that where the deal comes into play.

Probably won’t be buying much in the environment we’re in now.

He’ll be buying new then or not at all. I’m the same way.

For a $100 bipod to be worth $100, the buyer has to think it is. So for what you said to be true, instead of finding a buyer who wants to buy your gun at $500, you now have to find a buyer that wants the gun at $500, the scope at $400, and the bipod at $100. It's definitely possible to find a buyer who wants to pay full value on 3 separate items, but it's definitely significantly more difficult.

If you want to get full value out of accessories, you have to part them out. I'm usually wanting a very specific gun and a very specific scope, so if you offer me a gun and scope combo and aren't willing to break them up, it would have to be a very, very significant discount for me to even think about it.

A $100 bipod is NOT worth $100 on a used gun. It's worth about $80 unless that particular buyer thinks it's worth $100 to him.

Pass the gravy.

Exactly. Only a fool or someone afraid of a background check pays new price for used when he can buy new, for more reasons than one… The depreciation rate on custom rifles is higher yet.

Your price proves that the extras don’t bring the money you paid for them. It is a nice rifle but your current price is about 120.00 more than a new stock Ridge. Most people would rather pay 830 for a new one. I feel like you will be lucky to get 850.00 for it. I imagine it will sell for about 800.00.

And for the guys that think a 100.00 bipod or 500.00 scope is worth that used they need to take it off the gun and try to sell it. On average used scopes and accessories sell for about 50% of their retail cost on the used market. There are a few really high end optics exceptions but even those only 20% of their original retail value. These items are not worth one penny more sold used on a gun than they are when sold stand alone.

The going standard rate according to published data from resources as such is 10% of the retail stated price. Sell your guns for that.
