My son drew the Thanksgiving week hunt here. At 12 he's a go getter and experienced hunter. Sounds like from some of the old posts I've read there can be some hiking invovled, that will be a good hunt for him.

Any tips or intel on the area from hunters or travelers to this place? Thanks and great hunting to you all!

SIL and I got drawn for Jan GD A/S at Hill country SNA. We would love to hear anything about the place. Good luck.

Couple of years ago my nephew and I drew the Hill Country SNA. Saw a lot of pigs and some Buck deer… no exotics killed, they did say they were there. It was an anterless only hunt. Some of the blinds are a pretty good walk but nothing too excessive. It was fun but would never apply again.

I got drawn here last year for an antlerless hunt. They had pop up blinds setup that you had to hunt from. They were hand corning each area, but it didn't seem like they were doing it that often.

My area was a pretty good hike from the trailhead. My buddy went as well and his was a closer walk in. Really just depends on where they put you.

There are plenty of deer out there, didn't see exotics though. Best of luck to your son.

My son drew there a few years ago. We hunted a stand that overlooked a big draw and had a hill behind us. Very nice looking spot. The first day he shot a pig and the second day he shot a doe. We had about a 3/4 mile walk in to our stand down a rock road and it was not a tough walk.

We put out hand corn and the deer found it pretty quick. We didn't see any exotics in the park. There were a bunch between the park and Bandera.

Make sure you go to Bandera and eat at OST.

We stayed in the cabin in the park. Really cheap and they have an area to skin deer.

They had folding chairs in the popups. I brought shooting sticks for my son and they were helpful.
