everything for me is in the south zone. its been a few years of unreliable bird movement. this year i can't tell yet...i'm not seeing very many yet but its early. i don't know if its an issue of numbers of birds or if its an issue of strange migration patters. i recall many years of reasonably reliable and heavy bird movement if you had any decent habitat at all. now it seems real spotty for hte last 3-4yrs. some places are good and some nothing even though they've been good before. the good thing about the south zone is the birds are all moving south. so its like they will get there eventually....its just a matter of when. a lotta times its not until smack in the middle of deer season...but then they're all over the place.

heard a few hunters on my walk with Cookie this morning.
sounded like only a few birds passing their way.


we will be in the field this afternoon and tomorrow.

Pretty much dead here in Hall County. A few hanging in town and saw a total of 4 birds in the field.

A friend told me he limited out in Burleson county this morning.

I got my limit, aggregate and a bonus bird North of Abilene.

44 birds before 2 pm on Sept 1.

Zero birds near the Brenham tx area, recent rains been good, but little to no food source, sun flowers,
and such yeilds no birds. Guess a weather change may push some birds down in the area in coming weeks.

Looks like rain chance is slim in Waco area so going to go hunt that this evening. Hope there are more birds than San Marcos yesterday.

hunted 35 miles SE of Haskell opening morning with Ranger Creek. We needed a special field that had a private road through it to access after 4 plus inches the day before. We had folks limiting by 8am. This morning we went 18 miles or so NE of Haskell (fields much dryer) and anyone that could shoot a lick was limited by 8am. Both mornings the birds were super thick and were still flying when we left.

South of Waco. Good hunt. Lots of birds. Perfect weather.
Both men and dogs had a great time.
