Wise choice. That seems to be pretty rare these days. It's so bizarre to me that some folks will get a new vehicle every 2-3 years and save nothing.

I read an article a week or two ago that 20% of people making 250k per year or more live paycheck to paycheck. eek2

I believe it. See it with family and friends. Probably make less than most mine and more financial stability than most. Not my brother that dude not only squeaks when he walks. He has to put oil on his knees like the tin man after a rain.

Talking about guys driving less than they can afford. Ive got a buddy that has a new duramax in the driveway. (Keeps cows, hot shots, moves hay etc) couple big 18 wheeler type trucks for hauling. His wife drives a Cadillac.

Every time I see him he is in a truck he bought from a dude short on funds. Old late 90s early 2000s single cab small v8 Chevy. Dude has spent more on tires than he paid for the truck. He told me he leaves the title in the glove box when it breaks down he’s just gonna sign it and put it on the dash. Dadgum transmission feels like it’s gonna fall out shifting to 3rd. But it’s been that way since he bought it a couple years ago. roflmao

Good comments guys. Just to expand upon my earlier points a few posts above....the easiest way I saw I could get ahead in life was to never have car loans...so I never did over the past 25 years.

I will continue to say to the day I die the most valuable courses I ever took in high school were typing and auto mechanics! And yeah we used to slip out of auto mechanics sometimes and run to Lindsey for a case of Coors Light or two.

Sure. People aren’t expected to work on vehicles without beer, are they?

71. Your sig line tells me that’s not so. He wouldn’t give NRA a dime of his money as he’s too cheap and he sure wouldn’t enjoy fine guns.

I guess I’m an agree to disagree with that. If you don’t have a pot to pizz in or a window to throw it out, you have to start somewhere to gain “wealth”

Wealth is funny, one guy is born with more than the next could come up with in his wildest dreams.

I have no doubt. I'll never forget the day that a lady driving a new Escalade, carrying a LV purse, with 3 kids with an ipad each, asked me hold a check for $12 for a dog's rabies shot. eek

I'm still driving my vet truck, 17 f250 diesel. It's been a solid truck with not a lot of repairs. Got 170 something thousand on it now. I'm not driving like I used to, but dang, I gotta have a truck bed again. I'm starting to look at getting a half ton to drive back and forth to work in. Price and selection are a kick in the man parts.

I’m a lousy negotiator when it comes to vehicles. I generally find that I paid too much. I buy new, maintain them, and keep them until the wrecking yard doesn’t want them. To me, a vehicle is just a ride. I currently have 3: a 7 year old Tundra, a 5 year old large Nissan SUV and a 12 year old 4Runner. I’m not impressed by vehicles or what somebody else drives. To me, they are tools or “just a ride”.

Production is still very low and almost all trucks that arrive are already sold. The ones that aren't sell same day. We have about 5% of the new inventory we usually keep.

Pass the gravy.

The wife and I drive the backroads on weekends to get out and I have been seeing a lot of newer vehicles sitting in yards and pastures with for sale sighs on them. I'm thinking some of those folks who used the government money to buy a new truck are now having to unload them with the economy the way it is. Might try that route if all else fails. Just make sure to have a mechanic available to check them out before you buy.

That is the way I feel about them too. I just got home from town in my 2003 4Runner (it became mine when the wife got her new one), she has a 2011 4Runner that still looks and runs like new. Her toy, is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler and our backup vehicle if one needs some maintain work.
I am wanting a new Tacoma 4X4 but will not pay over the sticker, so the old 4Runner will be driven till the prices get back to normal, if they ever do.

I’m in the Tyler area and now I’m starting to look in dfw, Houston and Shreveport. Good thing there is nothing wrong with my truck now but I’m not going to be comfortable putting a 6-7k pound camper behind it.

Unless you have to have it right now, go in and order one and wait for it to come in so you get it for the MSRP and don't have to pay above that for one on a lot.
The wait is probably not longer than 120 days now from what Ive been told

I was in the GP Ford dealer yesterday for an administrative matter. Salesman saw my dealer lifted 2018 and was practically begging me to trade it in for the exact 2022 truck (in White). I knew better than walking out to it. I humored him by taking his card. They had more than a few trucks on the lot. Funny that the Lightening on the floor had NO sticker on it!

Talked to two dealers Monday. One told me 6-8 months to order. Other was about the same. Don’t necessarily need it now but the Tacoma is not anywhere near a tow pig and struggles with the smaller trailers.

But in reality I don’t want a new truck. I’d rather find one pre 20 that’s not plagued with issues.
