I'm going to give it another chance. It was poor the last couple of times I was on it. This year they had no crop of Sunflowers and my drive byes don't look promising but still going to give it a try.

I gave up this year after being a loyal Solana member for 17 years. I got on a different lease and plan to go to Uvalde for three days in October. Chris at Solana is a great guy but the owners just don't seem to value dove hunting anymore. With a little work cultivating sunflowers that ranch can be fantastic.

Just curious about how the dove hunting was opening day at Solana?

I hunted from 12 to end of the day. I got 5 birds. The ranch hand said there was about 50 members this year. I would say there was about thirty in the fields top. I missed probably six birds that we're probably a little out of range. A hunter that got there about the time I did fired 3 times. The rest of the hunters fired about the same amount. Last bird that came in was 5:30 pm. Nothing seen after that with a few shots around. It was pretty poor.

I was on it 2 years ago and it was phenomenal for the first 5-7 days. I drove by earlier this summer and saw zero sunflowers and figured it would be slow.
