Make it stop!

The nose rings will be delivered on Friday. Four of them. One for each grandparent and one each for the girl’s parents.

How do the girl's parents feel about her nose ring? Support it, tolerate it, disgusted by it?

Youngest daughter brought a boy for dinner that had a nipple ring. I proceeded to tell us how surprised he was how painful it was to install.

I cant remember exactly what I said, but questioned his IQ for being surprised. A few weeks later, he told me I was rude and disrespectful. I was heart broken.

DQ, it remains to be seen how the kid’s parents actually feel. Since their son dropped out of LSU (and everything else he ever started doing) and I subsequently criticized their child rearing, we get much less feedback on how their two are doing. The daughter, 17, has been going to a film school in NYC, and may have gotten the nose ring while there. She supposedly has a tattoo now also. Our daughter gives updates on that girl, because she shows signs of being potentially successful. Their son, now enrolled at Blinn, remains a question mark. If he will stick to his studies, they’ll be likely to brag on him. He has no nose ring, ear ring, or tattoo so far. Our two oldest grandkids are a joy, but these younger two are much less so.

I’ll once again repeat what on old relative once told me - “You think your kids are pretty smart until they start raising your grandkids”.

You sure have a lot of drama in your family, glad I am not a member, to have my life posted here.

Oh the "fun" kids are having these days. In my day, I never even thought about wearing my cap backwards. Of course, I still don't, but that's another matter.

That's what I don't get about the young ones nowadays. You, the girlfriend's father, or in my case, their wife's father, are supposed to respect them. Just, I guess, for being alive? And they, on the other hand, get to say whatever the hell they want. I swear they're being taught this crap.

I suppose some of what we have going on is drama, but it really isn’t much drama. I do believe that the reason we don’t hear much from the younger daughter is because her kids haven’t yet done anything to brag about. The older daughter, on the other hand, has the son that was the valedictorian of the recent SMU law class and a daughter that is doing great and making big bucks. Our two daughters have always been extremely competitive at everything, and the younger one is way behind on bragging rights right now. She’s keeping a low profile till she has something to brag about. Her daughter, with the nose ring and one known tattoo, has real potential, so may soon be the basis for bragging. I honestly hope so.

All in all, we have a pretty happy family. Nobody is mad at anybody, though my wife is quietly disgusted about that nose ring. It bugs her, though I’m pretty much Ok with it.

I think that things like nose rings and such as that are affectations that can be removed when the novelty wears off or it becomes uncool. Tattoos, on the other hand, take more of a real commitment because they are with you to stay, so you better make sure you really want that.

My parents always talked down about people getting tattoos and threatened how the sky would fall if I got one. So when I moved out , of course I got a tattoo.

When I was 12 and my parents got divorced I was asking for a stud in my ear, my dad had been adamant about not letting me get one before they split. First month after the split and my mother took me to get one. I realize now that I'm older that was a spitefull move and I was a pawn. I took them out when I was 15 or so, grandma bribed me with an Xbox to leave them out till I was 18. I happily accepted. I never ended up putting them back in.

My wife has a nose stud on one side, not a ring. She also has her upper ear pierced as well as lower. I like it, I have always liked a little metal and ink in my woman

OK smart guy. The ring in the nose looks like hell. It is something to either lead a bovine, keep it from suckling, or keep swine from rooting. It speaks volumes about judgement of the wearer. Door closer is what it screams. My experience is that goes right over the head of the average nose ring wearer. If you want to make your living working for and among the nose ring crowd or be the punch line of a joke, by all means pierce that snout and put a bull ring in it. Whether you agree with that or not, it is the box it puts you in with the mainstream.

Yep. Nobody will argue her looks, and plenty of men will go for that sort of thing, but that nose ring tells me enough to know that she is to be avoided. For me, anyway.

Body modification is as old as humans. The Indians of Texas were unreal in their body “art.” The Karankawas may have been the most extreme. Older I get, the less I am a fan. Fortunately, I am at a place I get to decide every single person I am around about 95% of the time. The times I have to be exposed to it, simply reinforces my hermit ways.

Honestly, I'd need to know a lot more about her to either write her in or out, relationship speaking wise. Refuse to judge my books by their covers. One night stand thing, yeahhhhh
