It's just a whitetail. I've found each deer has a different colored tail, and I often identify them, especially does, by the coloring.

cheers Thanks for the input from all.

Was thinking the black tail was pretty rare, mostly seen in SW texas.
Googled they have some in, think Florida

Mule deer have black, thinner tails. SD has mule deer but farther West.

While i been in texas 30+ years,
My bro's & people know have ever seen deer around here with black tails like that
Just unusual around here.

Again thanks for input.

Hope it will stick around for future trail cam pics.
Best wish's ta all on upcoming hunting adventures.
Season starts here in several weeks.

cheers

ntxtrapper, Theirs several species of while tails.
None around here have seen one with black on tip of tail.
confused2 That's over 80 some years of hunting. Reason for
Unusual sighting as in topic.

Sneaky, thought had heard their was black tail on SW part of texas,
heard their wasn't that many. That's first think popped in my head,
black tail, never seen one.
SD has mule deer, but mostly western part, maybe northern, did ranching in SD around Rapid City.
Seen & hunted mulies, just never got close.
Mules are typically bigger than even biggest white tail around here.
One in pic looked small for MD, reason BT came ta mind.
Very, very rare here, like a pie bald or pure white (forgot type right now, memory slipping like an old worn out tranny).
Seen from what i say complete white deer @ a WMA while living in
texas , again, appreciate. the input.
Googled & think it also said BT also have the split tines like MD, this one looks to small for MD.
confused2 as ntxtrapper, & others posted, could be strain of DNA been hidden, just very rare around here.

bounce happy hunting.

Just a young whitetail Buck. Spook it and you will see the white of his tail as he runs off.

No high fences. We don't hunt zoos. Hunting free range, fair chase game for over 50 Years.
