Any of them for typing. I would go with the Dell XPS 9720 out of that bunch.

If I did a lot of typing I would get a dock, good wireless keyboard, mouse 24"-27" monitor and do it from a desk or table.

I don’t put a whole lot of stock in laptops, they are expendable and I’m lucky if I get 2 years of use out of them. What I really need is a Toughbook, but those are damn expensive.

Get something that has a good backlit keyboard, my latest laptop has too bright of a backlight and it lights the keys in a weird way that just annoys me

Not on your link but I’ve got this Mac and am very happy with it. It’s still not a full size keyboard but you can add one to almost any laptop.

Yep, I have a 15" laptop that has 10 key as well. It is decent size for me, the only reason I didn't go bigger is because I was traveling with it daily. But as mentioned a docking station with a wireless keyboard is the way to go.

We have Macbooks for work and Im not a fan. I know you are only using it for typing so this information is useless but my wife was a software engineer for many years and hated Macs, she say on a PC or other brand, creating something may be 1-4 steps and a Macbook the same code would be 6-10 steps.

Same, I use the Microsoft Surface Laptop. Think I've had mine for 3 years now. I'm not easy on it either, it pretty much lives in my 110* garage running pretty much 24/7 on my 3d printer and laser engraver.

Best laptop I've ever owned. Although I buy HP EliteBooks for our laptops at work for training, all the staff laptops are surface laptops.

Keyboard feel is no different than shoe fit. It's completely personal. BUT, the more one types the more one probably wants/needs a keyboard with keys having more rebound. Also, the dampening can be different. Think of a shock and spring on a car. Different setups for different types of driving. J.P. Greeson, the only way to know is to go try them.

As for the Apple keyboards - and separate from feel - the lack of a backspace key (without having a key combo to achieve the function) has always annoyed me.

Most (?) keyboards have *adjustable* brightness for back-lighting.

Having a lengthy career as a programmer (writing a lot of code) and hacker (writing a lot of code) and network engineer (writing a lot of code) this does not compute. I'd like to hear more to understand.

Docking station or just buy a good blue tooth keyboard. I only use my laptop "native" if I'm on the road. Otherwise it's dock and loaded. Laptop keyboards by design will never be ergonomic and comfortable to use.

This was years ago, maybe it has changed. She has been an engineering teacher now for 15 years. I know nothing about them, just what she says. She graduate top of her class from Carnegie Melon, so she is much smarter than me.

Macbooks will run Windows better than most other laptops. The hardware is top notch, I'm just not a Mac O/S fan.

Not a premium brand, but I've had good luck with Asus. We've had I think 4-5 of them and all have been great, we are only using them for basic functions.

I don't like them and still use a desktop. They always needed to be repaired after a few years of use.

I'm more of a hunt and peck kind of typist so any keyboard would do. If I were getting a laptop today I would get the Asus Duo 15.6" with the 12th gen processor and 3060 graphics. If I were into typing I'd get a long wrist pad right in front of it, the keyboard placement is perfect for that. The dual screens is a major win.
