Would you rather have a Sightmark NV on an 8” 300blk or an 18” AR-10? The battery pack and illuminator add a bit a weight and bulk to the ultra compact 300blk. The .308 is extremely heavy for dragging around when moving and makes off hand shots even more difficult. I like keeping the 300blk on the ranger when driving around filling feeders, but the 3 second boot up time makes the chances of a quick shot difficult. The .308 has far more knock down power.

Which way would you go. The .308 currently has a 3-9. If I move the Sightmark I would pick up a Sig Romeo for the 300blk for simplicity.

Prop it up on something to shoot it.

I think there is some room in the middle of what your considering but that’s most likely based on what you already have onhand - I get that.

I put a 14.5” 308 together with a pin and welded muzzle brake to make 16” and I find it adequate inside 200 yards.

You’ll be shooting lighter weight (for caliber) loads but it’ll be more effect that 300 BO and more maneuverable than a 18” 308 rig.

Sorry I know that helps you zero but things are still cheap enough these days to build an upper for $ 600

I put mine on my AR10… with NV, silencer, and a 20 round mag it weighs about 13.5lb. However, it knocks pigs down quite well.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Neither. Put a 300 Ham'r barrel on your Black Out and go to work. Or you could go with a whole upper.
