If you’re even a slight fan of the great game you need to take the time to watch Nolan Ryan’s autobiography on Prime. Very well worth the $5 rental.
Kudos to Nolan for controlling and producing his own story and doing it in a outstanding manner. Much better than if he’d turned it over to ESPN. I’m glad to say I saw a number of his games in person and will be able to tell the grand kids about his pitching heroics some day.

I haven't watched it yet, but I will! I grew up watching him in the Dome and in high school, my final baseball game as a senior prior to graduation was against Alvin. While the Alvin fanbase was truly a bunch of jerks, Nolan attended the game and sat right behind our on-deck circle. Some might not understand, but it was a thrill getting a hit off of Alvin's star left-handed pitcher with Nolan looking on.

Saw him pitch several times at the old Arlington stadium. A friend got to see his 7th no hitter 5-1-91. He was it the outfield bleachers with his preteen son. He knew Nolan had it going in the 3rd or 4th inning. He took his son outside and bought tickets behind home plate a couple rows back and watched the rest of the game from there….

I went to the game the night before

I was at the first game Nolan pitched for the Astros. His first at bat he hit a homer.

They cover that... give him a bunch of grief over it.

I saw Nolan pitch several times at the Astrodome. We were sitting in the first row by the visitors on deck circle one time and i couldn't believe how many batters were literally shaking uncontrollably. Some of those guys were scared to death to face him.

What a great pitcher. What a great career. Had a pretty good punch too.

Had Nolan on my boat a couple times...fine man with an awesome family.

While it seems every pitcher throws 100 mph these days (and most MLB hitters can also hit 100 mph fastballs too), it just wasn't that way in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. To be sure, there were some hard throwers back then. But Nolan was one of a kind, and a fierce competitor like no other.

Watched it last night with the family and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

To the point that MLB quality hitters were shaking uncontrollably? Scared to death to face a fastball that was 5-10 mph faster than usual? Yeah, I’m not buying it, either.

Nolan was exceptional. Let’s not make him something he wasn’t, though.

When I was a teenager I had an impressive Nolan Ryan BB card collection, had an album just for him. Wish I would have kept my card collection, instead I just gave it all away. The whole card collection. As a teenager I mowed many a yard to have the bread to go to card shows.

I love baseball, and my main position was a catcher. I always dreamed of catching a pitch from Nolan Ryan.

While I'm not vouching for shaking hitters...never witnessed THAT, but the movie alone is proof enough that he was one of, if not THE most, intimidating pitcher in history. When guys like George Brett, Pete Rose, and Dave Winfield talk about their lack of desire to face him, I'll take their word for it.

Nolan was a great and I should have some of his cards in the attic. I will have to watch this one evening.
