Running 200 mph on a bike is what made me feel alive, it also gave me a limp and lots of scars so it’s probably a good thing I don’t do it any more.. Now getting out of bed and walking to the bathroom does it,

On the back of a wildland firefighting truck standing our ground at a road next to some apartments as a wall of fire approaches. Watching fire tornados appear as it gets to the pasture across from us. Local volunteers stopping to say everyone is retreating to the highway. Refusing to leave and staying behind to prevent it jumping the road to the apartments. Experiencing the fire generate it's own wind and roar of sound. The cedar trees next to me bending 90 degrees back and forth and smoke so thick blocking the sun that it feels like night. Watching the wall overcome a large house across the road from us and fully engulf it in a matter of minutes knowing it's coming for us next. Snot and tears running down my face and my voice growing hoarse as we successfully defend our assignment and extinguished every fire that jumped saving the apartments with our one little brush truck. I miss those fighting dragons moments greatly.

I drive a manual and always leave it in gear and use the parking break. One time, we forgot something at the house when we were heading out of town. Pulled in the driveway, which is on a slight hill, to run inside. Didn’t pull the parking break and didn’t leave it in gear because I left the truck running. Halfway out the door and my wife is starting to say something as I realized the truck was rolling backwards. Almost a disaster! Would’ve rolled across the street into my neighbor’s house, probably.

After being at the ranch for a few weeks, hopping in and out of the SxS is no big deal. You just roll to a stop, hop out. No brake needed, leave it in gear, it will just sit there an idle. This becomes habitual, then you hop out of the F350.

I bumped a live wire today, main breaker for the house is turned off along with all other breakers. That was eye opening. That tingle makes you feel alive

Having your daughter (that lives several states away) tell you that there's a picture on their wall that they took out here and that your 2-year-old granddaughter points to it and says "Grampy ranch. I go!" (Miss her so much it hurts. )
