You folks who shoot pigs with it, what are you shooting...I have a bolt gun and an AR chambered for 7.62 x 39...and am interested in something with good bullet performance.

I like the hornady SST the best, but have shot several with wolf HP, FMJ, and SP. All left pretty significant holes.
Give thanks in all circumstances.

The SSTs won't cycle through my Sig. What am I doing wrong?

The SSTs won't cycle through my Sig. What am I doing wrong? There can probably be 100 things your'e doing wrong. The first is not giving any information on what you're actually using or what cycling phase is specifically failing for you. The SST is just a projectile & Sig is a pretty big manufacturer with multiple offerings in this caliber. For any chance at help you would want to include the load (assuming Hornady Black being it is the most popular SST in 7.62x39) and what rifle, configuration and settings you are using. There are 2 bore diameters used by Sig and other manufacturers in 7.62x39 firearms. Gas port/piston and spring combos can all be effected on crossing the .308/.309 and .310 combinations up.

Sig Sauer R556xi-762-16B-S-AK I put these in it and the spent casing won't eject and load the next round (even though they cycle fine in the Ranch Rifle). ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-40213-356376-hornady.jpg) These cycle fine. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-40213-356377-nosler.jpg)

Ranch Rifle? as in Ruger's bolt action ranch rifle or the mini30 ranch rifle?
1 suggestion would be to put calipers on your projectiles and see if they are both the same diameter.
Another suggestion would be to chronograph both the loads out of the gun in question. You'll probably find the Hornady is significantly lower velocity in the Sig. I'd expect you will likely find the sig bore to be a .310" vs .308
The early 556R models came in both bore diameters depending on when you got it and if it was import or US gun. I had both the "swat" railed and the classic version.I don't remember the specifics but I had the issue back around 2009 that one was a .310" bore and none of my ammo stocks would shoot worth a crump through it.

For hogs, only the cheapest…
On my land I need at least supers as we can often get decent ranges that we can spot hogs. Usually Tula soft points or HP.
On my BiL’s land it’s a small little shooting gallery so I’ll usually use brown bear subsonics.
For deer I have underwood controlled chaos. I’m a huge fan of controlled chaos for 7.62 and 300blk
