Where do yall buy your nice clothes? Ive worked in casual env for past 15yrs but recently found that I need to meet with big clients on occasion and need to step up from my ragged jeans, boots, and polo. I bought some nice shoes on Amazon ($130 and they feel like cheap pieces if crap). Now I need to find some slacks, shirts, belts, socks, and probably need a sports coat or two. I dont need to be fully suited but presentable and sightly better dressed than clients (which are usual between casual and business casual). Where do yall buy your stuff? I went to Walmart today and that isnt the place to go Oh, Im cheap and dont wanna spend a bunch on clothes.

I used to buy a lot from Jos A Banks, but they changed their business model. Most trousers I buy on Amazon these days. Shirts and jackets from like Dillards, Macys, etc.

Don’t know what line of work your in but a lot of my meetings I go to in a nice starched pair of jeans, a pair of lucchesse gator boots, a button up shirt and a sports coat. But I work in Rural land sales so boots and jeans fits the clientele. Got the coat at mens warehouse, the button ups from anywhere from Dillards to Boot barn. But, that particular looks isn’t cheap to acquire, but it’s comfortable
Slacks, as mentioned before mens warehouse will be able to accommodate you.

Possibly not dressy as you want, but i bought some pants and button down shirts at Orvis that I really like. Not cheap though.
I'm far from a fashionable person, but I do feel like you get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once.

My clients will mostly be out of state, skinny pants, zippered peter pan boots kinda men. I figure my Lucchese caimans or ostrich boots would offend them and my jeans will be too wide leg. So I figure I can just do regular old slacks with some oxford shoes and button down shirt.
Sounds like I need to go to Mens Warehouse. I always thought they were expensive. I buy most of my clothes at Costco, Walmart, Academy these days. Shoes wise, pretty much always in flip flops, tennis shoes, or boots.

Perfect opportunity to show them what testosterone looks like. I’ve been in sales since I was 21 and never had an issue making sales in jeans and boots. What industry are you in?

K&G Fashion used to be decent. Had several locations about 10 years a ago. I have not bought much from them recently. Bought a couple of nice shirts from last summer. If one is not far from you, may be work a trip.

Alright… for a suit got to Brooks brother’s outlet. Buy a suit jacket and 3 pairs of matching pants. You will wear pants out quicker then jacket, and that way you get same fabric swatches so they always match. I use to buy nothing but brooks brothers non-iron customs shirts(I have 18” neck, skin fits arent tapered enough), but I blow elbows out after a year. So I switched to https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/us for shirts. Get on the mailer and you get gets some really good deals when they have sales. I don’t think that they are as sharp as Brooks shirts but 4x more durable for a 1/4 the price. I have only bought shirts from CT. All suits are BB’s Until Covid I wore suits every day for 17 years

So I figure I can just do regular old slacks with some oxford shoes and button down shirt. . Yes, its going to be pretty hard to beat 'traditional designs' in footwear and shirts. And IMO first impressions are important in both dress and how you conduct yourself (in the Sales World). Not that either can't be overcome by 'ability' and performance. I understand the want/need to be reasonable in your expenditures for clothing, but with regards to footwear and dress shirts....you pretty much get what you pay for. Good quality footwear (in transitional designs) will literally last you a lifetime and not go out of style. Many are actually 'rebuild-able'. I like Allen Edmond shoes for their quality and fit. You don't need the entire line....of course, just a few of the basics (regardless the brand you choose). And a few dress boots (of your liking for design) for less formal events. This is TEXAS after all. Decent footwear is an investment, but can serve you well for decades. Good dress shirts the same (provided you remain pretty much the same size/weight). Suit pants and coats (or Sport Coats) go in and out of style. This an area where you can save money but keep up with current fashions. Whatever you choose....best of luck. But well to remember a well dressed man is almost never a hindrance unless grossly out of place for the event.

I dont need to be fully suited but presentable and sightly better dressed than clients (which are usual between casual and business casual). Where do yall buy your stuff? I went to Walmart today and that isnt the place to go Oh, Im cheap and dont wanna spend a bunch on clothes. My attire is normally flip flops and shorts and I wear this outfit into the winter, then eventually switch to boots, old jeans, t-shirts and maybe a hoodie or pullover. The only thing, IMO, that you need to spend a little extra money on is shoes. I used to primarily buy Cole Haan and Johnston & Murphy Shoes - now just Johnston & Murphy Shoes (for dress shoes) - Cole Haan has become too trendy for me. Don't buy the shoes online. You need to try them on in a store. You probably should also buy pants in the store. Get about 3 pairs of khakis or maybe 2 and a pair of khaki-type pants in the green shade. If you need button-downs, get some of those. The last 4 or 5 button-downs I have bought were an Amazon brand that you can order by neck and sleeve size. And buy a belt. You can get clothes cheap. I have 3 sport jackets that never get worn and 3 suits that I have gone as much as over a year without putting on. I have 2 dark suits and 1 kinda khaki colored suit. As had been said, you can wear boots with khakis and look nice. You can also wear something like in the photo below. Or you can wear a lace-up oxford-type shoe. You can get by all year with 3 pairs of pants and 8-10 shirts. No matter what you wear, make sure you are comfortable. You can dress up your look just a bit and still be you. There's nothing worse than wearing clothes you aren't comfortable in.

Im cheap too. Dillards clearance usually does the trick. I have to be presentable at least 2 days a week. For shoes and comfort Johnston and Murphy expensive but about what you paid for the pair off Amazon.

Are there any Stein Mart stores in your area? If so, they carry everything your looking for. I’d stick with the boots, this is Texas.

When I was in retail sales and on my feet 10 to 12 hours a day, they saved me. $200 back in 1998, but well worth it. Same pair is like $750 now, but they do have some nice shoes in the $200 range.
