Not really hunting, more like shooting, because since the first of July about 16 hogs show up every third morning behind my house. So I have set up my very expensive shooting table


and get up a little before 6:00 to scan the field (those are cows and calves in the photo).



Hogs are usually from 280 to 550 yards out so I set the Lead Sled up and work on reducing the population. They're getting smarter now, they'll stay in the middle of the cows mostly, but sooner or later some will wander out to give me a clear shot. I've killed six since July 5th.

Have you found the lead sled shifts the POI? Some claim it will sift the POI a few inches higher than shooting without it.

Since I have been using my Sled for decades, I have heard all kinds of nasty things attributed to its use: broken buttstock, bent bolt (really!), POI changes from high to low and left to right. I've not ever had any of those things happening. Never heard from any of my shooting buddies that such things have happened

Maybe a double back flip. Save those shots for any afternoon hogs, when it's 110!

Same as mikei, I've used it for a couple of years and can't tell any difference, maybe I'm not a good enough shooter to tell.

how long are your shots.

550 yards is my longest shot on these hogs. At that distance I have plenty of time to get exact range, dial the scope in and settle in to shoot. I don't examine the hogs that close but everything looks like impacts are right where the crosshairs were. Longest possible shot would be a little over 650 which I would like to try.

Darn dogs want out about 6:00 every morning so there's no danger of over sleeping.
