Just watched Fox 4. Rolling blackouts are a possibility the next few days due to the lack of wind.

Good to know since our neighborhood has a lot of very brief power interruptions.

Well thank god for the wind turbines...which when there is no wind, they require a quite large amount of power to keep them rolling at idle. So it could be said they're part of the cause of the blackouts

They did say that mild wind was the reason.

No kidding. That was the point he was making. There is no "free" source of power and the wind turbines well and truly suck.

Conserve between 2 and 8pm. My generator is ready. Maybe they can get some big fans to blow on those windmills!

hard to conserve when your ac runs all day and still struggles to get below 80.

Agreed. Texas Ranger's should open up that retractable roof, and shut off their a/c for tonight's game. I do worry about the elderly with this heat and the potential for rolling blackouts.

didn't "we" just put (borrow from ourselves) $6 trillion into fixing our infrastructure?
God, I'd love to see where this money is earmarked. Its **** sure not going to add more electricity grids

I think its being spent improving the roads to get to the 7-11 where we can buy our 40oz malt Liquor and grape cigars, not to mention our scratch-offs

It’s people like you that make rates go up. So you just sit back and eat your $14.00lb bologna.

We lost some old and incapacitated folks when the power was off during the big freeze. Likely to lose more this time if they cut power for 4 days again. Their so called "rolling" blackouts should have been investigated for possible criminal charges.

I don’t disagree with D&B. Nursing homes and medical facilities I understand, or medical condition(to a point) every one else not a huge amount of sympathy. It wasn’t that long ago the best you could do AC wise was swamp/evaporator cooler. Terribly soft society.

End of the day it’s not a problem created by ERCOT, it’s a Federal Government EPA caused issue. That the truth. We aren’t allowed to build out energy planets to take advantage of local natural resources.

With that said how many people could deal with a contaminated water? Let try not to forget that you can buy a $ 20 filter from academy, Walmart, Amazon etc. so who or how many on this thread has one in their cabinet or truck?

It is 1,000,000,000% a progressive liberal democrat problem. Period. Obama's clean power plan was the trigger that caused a lot of companies to start shutting down coal fired plants. It didn't help that NG was so cheap during that time frame too.

-Big Brown - Obama & his EPA (and ERCOT "found the 1,150MW plant was not needed to support EROCT transmission reliability")

-Monticello - Obama & his EPA (1,880MW)

plus I know several more. Those two alone could power what - nearly 2 million homes? Maybe 1 million on peak demand?

I’m trying to be empathetic, but I look back at staying with my great grands and remember the only electric utilities in their house was a few lamps and fridge, you could go in their pantry and find enough canned food to live two months or more. Now let’s all go in our pantry and see how long we could legitimately live. Not barely survive but live.

Maybe I’m off base and missing a bunch, but it’s not the government job to make you comfortable and dependent

People hooked up on medically necessary equipment need electricity to live...not just for comfort.
