Iron deficiency anemia. My wife, who is never sick, was having some medical issues and had a bunch of tests run. She was told she had iron deficiency anemia, which she had never had before, so more tests were ordered. There was a small amount of blood in her stool. More testing and another colonoscopy. No polyps, but the doctor said he found something. Almost missed it he said. He took a small biopsy. Colon cancer. That’s the surgery my wife recently had. Very slow growing cancer that had not spread, and they got it all.

I haven’t shared this with you guys, but thought maybe I should. The anemia she had was due to something that would eventually have killed her if not for the further testing and a sharp eyed young doctor. Anemia. If iron supplements don’t fix the anemia, get more tests.

Kudos to your sharp Dr!

Anemia occurs at times as we age.

This sounds like a Buzz post...

Get info and do whatever anyway, just saying

The Dr will subscribe meds...

But id start w adding water to your daily routine

Gimme 1 gallon a day of water, eat right and exercise EVERYDAY, don't miss a day

Salads, fish (not bottom feeders) and chicken

Hola back in 45 days, but don't lie about it

And this is why I want to die first. God forbid, if my angel passes first, I will definitely be in this boat.

I in fact have iron deficiency Anemia, they measure hemoglobin. Range should be 13-17 , I was at 6.6 which the doc said should have been a blood transfusion being that low. I had an iron infusion to get it started good a week ago which is basically iron through an IV . I’m on 135mg of iron a day now and have been feeling much better the last two weeks. Almost normal again, I did 10 rounds in class last night and had great oxygen even at the end. Go back in a month for another blood test to ensure the iron supplement is at the right level.

Seems like we have a fix !

I had some similar symptoms and mine were actually caused by iron deficiency anemia. Which can cause a whole lot of freaking health issues. The main difference between your symptoms and mine is that my pulse was over 100 and my blood pressure was elevated for me. I went because I was afraid I was having heart issues. I now take ferrous gluconate twice a day (if you have to take an iron supplement, you want ferrous gluconate, not ferrous sulfate...it'll give you stomach issues that you really don't want, and it has a nasty aftertaste when you burp) and B12. I'm 47.

I think we have a winner. Go call Lone Star Son.

Glad it’s somethings that sound easily fixed.

Happy you're on the mend, Glad you didn't have that Transfusion no telling what "Other Problems" it could cause.

Yeah, I'm glad it's an easy fix. I've been on ferrous gluconate since August and it has made a world of difference. My blood pressure is back to normal and my resting heart rate is in the low 60's...trying to get it back to the high 40's and low 50's like it was 8 years ago...I just gotta continue walking 3 to 6 miles a day. I was doing that back then and my resting heart rate was awesome!

I'm glad you're feeling better and please keep us updated.

You're welcome. They also say Vitamin C helps with the uptake of iron supplements into the blood along with the b12, so you may talk to your doctor about that, too.

Iron deficiency anemia is nothing to play around with as it really can screw things up...
