Last month's water bill was $140 and expecting this next one to approach $200. I'm paying far less for electricity than water.

Utility bills are on autopay. Don't remember last month's but I fully expect a $200+ bill this month. No rain and this heat is causing me to add pool water every few days. Electricity will probably be in the low-mid $200's. Summer in Texas.

LOL, just paid my water bill. $560. It's been running $400-$500/month for a long time now. Top that. I live outside the city limits a couple miles, but the house is on city water. Have a water well for the grass.
There has to be a leak somewhere underground, but I haven't been able to find it. This all started after Hurricane Harvey when the ground stayed saturated for a long time while I was running a tractor daily cutting/removing downed trees. I'm assuming that I ran over the water line and started the leak, that has gradually gotten much worse. I live on 5 acres and my house sits in the back, the water meter is outside my front gate down the road a bit. It's a long run to the house. I have looked & looked and can't find the leak, the bill just keeps going up every month. I'm calling the Water Dept again next week. This is freakin' ridiculous.

Shut the water to your toilets and watch the level in the tank. A leaky flush valve can waste a lot of water.

(Long past due) Time to call the man! I had similar situation once, but leak was only about $80 a month; I knew where water meter was, and shutoff/entrance into house, but they were 1000ft apart (diagonal) and I had no idea where the private water line ran - along edges of field or diagonal across - (neither did water co). Never found any water puddles/soft ground. I finally found the leak myself by connecting post-hole digger to tractor, and digging random holes 4ft down, till I found ones filling with water, triangulating till I got close to leak, then probing with 4' t-rod till I found soft ground down lower, and finally tapping the pvc pipe with rod. Damn line was 4' down in sandy soil! 1.5" pvc - diagonal across field.

Leak detection service may be needed. I’d bet you could save $100s per month! What? (Long past due) Time to call the man! Well here. Grass is green. But, we're in a climb pattern, or whatever you call it, of a little municipal airport, so, I figure we may get busted someday. I'm sure it sticks out like a sore thumb during a drought from the air. No real restrictions, yet, out here in the county. 'Glad it rained a little. It's not an obsession for me however, like certain Houston-area members on here.

I’ve seen as high as $800. That was no mistake or broken line, that was the result of 10 pallets of sod in mid May. It was worth it.

Not sure, our well runs off the meter on my shop. There is a 10hp air compressor in there, welding machines, lathes, mills, grinders, and other tools, so who knows what it costs to run that well.

I'm on well water and do not water my lawn. Have a sprinkler system for the flower beds and slab. My mom's was $297 last month and her lawn is still crispy.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

About $45. Been on watering restrictions since March. Normal usage is somewhere between 5k-7.5k gallons a month. Only outside usage is washing dog kennels twice a day.

I’m trying to keep mine green and losing. The wife is already fussing anticipating the water bill but her flower beds get all they need per her instructions.

Ours runs about $108 - $130/month depending on the amount of laundry I have for work. Grass is dead, flowerbeds are alive, but watered sparingly. Our sewer costs more than the water...
