AKA Bloated and Floated. One of the things I don't like about hunting beaver is that getting confirmed kills on swimmers is sometimes difficult. You may mortally wound a beaver that goes subsurface, but then doesn't come back up again during the hunt. In this case, 2 of the 3 confirmed kills on this tank were readily obvious a day and a half later...

Yep, those look to be fully inflated.

Nice, snag them with a treble I tried shooting them to see if they would explode. They just sort of depleted, slightly.

Since I don't have a dog, when I go duck hunting I take along a small spinning rod and reel, tie on a "Lucky Thirteen" fishing lure (it's a floater, in case you don't know, with 3 treble hooks on it) cast it over the duck carcass, snag 'em and reel them in. A beaver ain't no duck, but I betcha it would work just fine. Bet those beavers will be mighty ripe by the time you get them in!

That can't be good for your water quality. Not sure how many dead beavers it would take to poison the tank, but I'd hate to accidently find out.

Turtles die in tanks. These and birds, beaver, cattle, opossums, deer, etc. poop and pee in tank. Trees drop leaves and limbs into talks. Runoff from the highway washes down into the streams that fill the tanks. Given that beaver are here, you know that the tank is likely infested with giardia. I really don't think a few carcasses will make one iota of difference. They will just be fish and turtle food. Here is my follow-up hunt. Only saw one beaver, but it is no longer with us, either.

Looks like the beavers are just relaxing, and enjoying a nice day floating around in the pool. They're probably waiting for the pool attendant to arrive with their drinks. Or not…
