I kill most of my pigs on our property between the end of deer season and Mid-August when I back off the hunting pressure in anticipation of deer season. We kill a few during deer season, usually enough early on to make them go nocturnal for the remainder of season. We're in Freestone County, and have been absolutely covered up with pigs for the last ten years or so.. However, after this past season I gave them the usual 2-3 week get-comfy period and pulled the cards from my cam's to see where they were moving around the most. Saw the usual numbers in earlier pics, but as time passed the numbers and frequency of them anywhere on the property decreased. For the last 3 months the only pigs I've seen on camera is a group of three boars about 100-125lbs visiting one feeder on our place between 11pm and 3am, and then only 2nd or 3rd night. I have yet to see one in person this year. So last weekend I called the neighboring ranch owner to see what he knows. He told me a ranch about a mile away implemented a strong trapping program at the end of deer season, and had pulled several hundred pigs off the place.
It's getting to the point now where my pork supply in the freezer has dwindled to almost nothing. Something we've taken for granted because it was a free and endless supply of meat. I've been thinking about calling the ranch that's trapping them and asking if they'll cull me out a few eater sows, lol.
I know everyone complains about them, but would you miss them if their numbers suddenly dried up?

Call me crazy but I love hunting pigs and could care less about deer. I would literally cry if there were no hogs in large numbers to hunt.
pig hunting: multiple multiple targets day or night kill as many as you want all year no limit, exciting up close and personal at times, feed the buzzard society award winners In my opinion just cant have much more fun than pigs.
GO TRUMP!

I wouldn’t miss them on my property, but I enjoy killing and eating other peoples problems.

I work very hard to lessen their numbers. However, for every hunter like me, there are several that are actively conserving hogs as best as possible. I met the guy next door to one of my places and he gives the pregnant sows a free pass so as to be able to continue his hunting experience.
Would I miss them? I would miss the hunting, but would not miss the hogs. I would probably go back into pistol competition if the hogs disappeared. That was the bulk of my shooting before hogs became a problem.

I have a dedicated pig feeder. I like shooting them and occasionally making sausage.

We had a similar thing happen at our place this year. A neighboring landowner began trapping them for sale and would take 5-6 hogs out every day for several months. We went from seeing hogs everyday to zero. Our family enjoys hunting and eating the hogs we kill. I know the guys that lease the ranch next to ours were not happy to see the hogs gone either.

I enjoy shooting/killing them, but not the damage they do.

Not really. The damage they do far outweighs the fun I have hunting them.

I HATE the damage they do.
The only upside to hunting pigs in the off season is it keeps hunter marksmanship skills sharpened

Nothing would make me happier than if there was not a single pig within 100 miles of me.
I don't eat them, I don't hunt them for sport. I hunt them because I HAVE TO....in order to keep the damage they do to my property to a minimum.
This has been going on now for about 30 years and I hate to think of all the money and time I have invested in battling them. They are a scrounge.

The idiots that transported and released them to have something to hunt made the problem 10X worse. No one's ever gonna admit doing it, but I bet a few of those bone-headed old timers lurk on here.

I do enjoy hunting pigs. Would I miss them if they were gone? Probably for a minute. The property that I hunt in OK had a bad pig population. We killed every one we could, and the parks dept. came in the area with helicopters and decimated the pig population. The Parks dept doe the helo thing every few years, and we have seen almost no pigs since. We missed seeing them for a little bit. But not really.

I would. I got to go on a helicopter hunt to clear a bunch of pigs off of the land where I'm at and it was fun, but now the pig numbers are real low so the chance of having targets of opportunity has dwindled. I think I'd rather shot the pigs here and there than even getting to go on the helicopter hunt, but if the opportunity comes up I will go on another helicopter hunt LOL

I'd be ecstatic to not have to fix any fences or fill in any deep holes, and I'd love to have any plantings not rooted up and destroyed. Same for coons and other varmints. I'd rather have fawns and turkeys and game birds and small game animals.
