Thinking of doing this. Could anyone tell me how much do I tip and who do I tip? Wondering how much extra cash I would need to bring with me.

Lol...its a very subjective matter and there are a million answers and a lot of variables that lead to those answers. On another forum the "Tipping Guide" thread is 47 pages long... I would recommend discussing the matter with the owner of the outfit you're hunting with, and also your PH.

My on my safari's, provided the service warrants it, I typically tip the PH around 10% of the cost of the safari (trophy fees + daily rate) the remainder of the staff gets less than the PH, and that is where the owner or PH will be helpful to determine how much, but other factors come into play especially for your tracker(s), if you wound an animal and you have a good tracker(s) that do an excellent job finding the animal and you are able to recover it and not have to pay a trophy fee for an animal that was never found I would take that into account on the other hand if the tracker(s) seem uninterested in looking for animals while driving around or seem to put forth little effort recovering animals that should also be taken into account.

I feel there are a lot of people who are reluctant to say how much they tip for fear of being thought of as cheap or fear of being thought of as showing off and that plays into the mystery surrounding how much and who you should tip while on safari. In my opinion, it is best for you to hand the individual the money, look them in the eye and thank them for their service. I will also add I've never had a bad experience on safari, I've had wonderful PH's, trackers, chef's, maids/laundry, etc. I've also hunted with the outfitter for whom this thread is posted, I don't know Dan the OP as he's a rep I believe in FL, but Limcroma is top notch with great people, facilities, land, and animals. Of all those assets I'll tell you hands down it was the people who made my experience with them what it was.

I know other people think differently but I look at tipping, especially your PH, like this:
Lets say you go out for a nice dinner with your significant other...4-5 course meal, drinks, whole 9 yards...probably going to spend $100-$150 and lets say you have a wonderful waitress/waiter, you're probably going to tip that person somewhere between $25-$50 and you'll likely be with them for lets say 2 hours.

A lot of PH's start their mornings around 4:30-5:00am getting ready to spend the next 15+ hours with you...they're usually with you at breakfast, hunt that morning then a lunch in the field or back to the lodge, they eat lunch with you, then back out for the afternoon/evening hunt, then back to the lodge to freshen up for dinner and drinks, then a nice night around a camp fire and a few more drinks....that goes on for 7 days in this instance, 15 hours a day for 7 days is over 100 hours they spend most of the time one on one with you not counting the time they spent getting ready for you to arrive and planning where you'll be hunting to accomplish taking the trophies you want to take. Its a lot of work to say the least and the good ones make it look easy.

P.S. If you don't have a PH in mind I can highly recommend Guillaume Roux with Limcroma!
