Doing a family trip to Flagstaff, AZ in a few weeks, any fun suggestions of things to do besides Grand Canyon Southern Rim, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Antelope Canyon, kayaking/tubing in Sedona area, 4x4 jeep offroading in Sedona area?

Thanks,

Go to Prescott, gamble, bar hop, get in a fight with some bikers, help one get up and haul [censored] with them out the back door when cops show up, then go to lake Havasu with them and party.

Or If it was later in the year I’d head to strip to glass deer

This it, an Eagles song reference, a bar fight suggestion with bikers and The Grand Canyon Railroad which seems legit. What else?

That high desert country is gorgeous IMO, some time 4wheeling is hard to beat.

Walnut Canyon was kind of nice. Short, but rigorous hike down to some cliff dwelling ruins. Beautiful scenery but if you've been to the Grand Canyon it isn't that impressive. Do it first if you haven't been to the Grand Canyon and plan on going this time.

Lava River Cave was neat too. Self guided cave exploring. a bit of a scramble to get into the cave but then mostly level walking once you're inside. Also the drive through the Coconino Forrest is nice.

Rent a UTV in Sedona. Absolutely gorgeous scenery and they are street legal with tons of trails to ride. The trails will beat you up in a Jeep with all the football to basketball size rocks. We rode in Sedona in 2021

This is a fun trail, nothing technical, but gorgeous views. About 15 miles total, will take a little over 2 hours with stops for photos.

Check out the Lava River Caves, bring three flashlights. Bearizona is a tourist trap, but if you have never seen bears up close the kids may like it.

Any value in going to Painted Desert and/or Petrified Forest. Already planning on Grand Canyon National Park and Antelope Canyon.

If I recall correctly, the area of the Petrified Forest where one can walk through is pretty small. I'm still glad I did it though. Painted Desert is really pretty.

I lived in Arizona for a couple of years as a kid and one of my favorite memories is going on a jeep tour of canyon de chelly. If they still do that, it was really cool.

After getting in yesterday and getting a lay of the land and dealing with some altitude sickness, we were off and running with Sedona, Camp Verde and Jerome based excursions. Started at Montezuma's Castle in Camp Verde, then out to Jerome to see other ruins then north to Sedona for Chapel of the Holy Cross, Red Bed Rock trails and finishing with Slide Rock north of Sedona back on way to Flagstaff. Grand Canyon South Rim on tap tomorrow and town of Williams on way back to Flagstaff. Tue. will be Antelope Canyon-X and Horseshoe Bend. Wed. some Flagstaff shopping, sights and maybe golf.A few pics of today's excursions. [Linked Image]

Had some great eats in Williams, AZ at Cruisers Route 66 Cafe. For $69.99 we got the family BBQ platter which included beef ribs, pork ribs, pulled pork, brisquet and half chicken. Included corn bread, ranch beans and potato salad. Fed 3 adults and 2 kids with leftovers to boot. Ohhh o so good.
