My kids 9,8,&7 love to watch the YouTube videos of peacock bass fishing and also the saltwater fishing that are on there from Florida. Personally I've always dreamt of going to the Amazon and catching peacock bass. While Miami may not be the Amazon, it's a little more affordable lol. I am planning a vacation for the whole family to go and if y'all have any ideas or experiences to share I'd love to hear them. I've seen pretty good deals flying out of Houston to Miami so the idea is to fly there and get settled in. Next day go peacock bass fishing. Following day explore Miami, surf fish maybe, have fun. Next day go offshore fishing. Come home. We could do this anytime between the first of March until the end of October.

Kids are fairly experienced bay fishers. Any good guide recommendations, places to stay ideas, and advice on what to do in Miami are appreciated. Thanks

I realize this would be better posted on the TFF but I don't have an account and don't want to make one.

I’ve been to Miami a lot but never considered it as a family destination. The only fishing I ever did was offshore where I was lucky to get invited by some professional sport fishermen. We caught all kinds of neat big fish.

If you’ve never been to Miami I’d really invest some thought and research into the place as a family destination.

Head down to Key Islamorada. Don’t know if they have peacock bass, but plenty of tarpon and reds.

The Bay Boat guys are charging a grand for a full day trip now.

I've been both offshore and inshore out of Islamorada. We really enjoy it down there when we go.

Florida Sportsman magazine might be your best bet. You can buy a single digital issue and look at their advertisements, this months issue, has an article on peacock bass. https://www.floridasportsman.com/magazine/florida-sportsman-current-issue/395818

I made three trips to Miami for work and spent a total of about two months there. Stayed in different areas each time. I am no prude and am very lenient with what I expose my kids too but I don’t think I would take them there, It is a wild place geared towards partying. Spanish is spoken more than English. A lot of people hate it but I kind of liked it there,

The peacock bass are definitely there. The locals we worked with talked about catching them in the canals all the time.

up

Traveling there a lot in my 30s was fun. That whole South Beach scene was a blast. Often I’d spend a few days there in route to South America. I don’t see it as a family destination for the same reason as well as not many family activities.
