Is a burger not considered a sandwich? Obviously would be number one on all lists. My best attempt at a hamburger sandwich.

Sub Sandwich from Pizza Place in Sville. Damn good. I eat BLTs a few times a week this time of year. Had one for breakfast this morning. I’d really like to try an authentic lobster roll.

Y'all make some good points. French dip and cheese steak both belong in my top 5.
In my opinion, a burger is not a sandwich. A patty melt is because it's served on toast. Chicken or bbq on a hamburger bun is a sandwich. I'm not sure how that works.
I love a good gyro, but are we calling that a sandwich? Is a taco a sandwich? I vote not.
I'm also dubious of open faced sandwiches. You can't pick it up, which is a defining characteristic of a sandwich. Is biscuits and gravy a sandwich?

Is a burger not considered a sandwich? Obviously would be number one on all lists. A sandwich consists of two slices of bread, while we put hamburger patties between a roll that’s been cut in half. Hamburgers were initially served in the early 1900s tartare (in other words, with raw ground meat), but cooks soon began to cook them to avoid illness. Nowadays, all hamburgers are cooked, whereas sandwiches are not. In a lot of ways it's similar in comparison to chili or chili without beans. Without beans it is only a topping for fritos or hotdogs but a true pot of chili has beans in it. Food Fight!

We used to eat their subs pretty often too. Probably ate one a week when I was in high school (late 70`s) They changed owners several years ago and the quality went down (mostly bun and less meat) and the price went up. Haven`t eaten one since.

Best sammy I've ever had was a Bang Bang shrimp Bahn mi from some little Vietnamese restaurant somewhere. I can't even remember where it was, but it was ridiculous.
