With the prices for cellular game cameras now as low as conventional models, I'm seriously thinking about adding one to track hog activity.

Should someone steal your camera, are the Cellular Service Providers any help? Can they at least remove the ESN from their network so the camera is useless for cellular connectivity? Or in cases where you pay the camera manufacturer for a wireless plan, do they offer the same anti-theft capability?

TIA

For stealth cam, muddy, and wildgame there is no “theft protection” but if someone does steal your camera they are unable to use it, unless you delete the camera from your account. Let me know if you have any q’s about these cameras, im very familiar with these brands

I'm not sure about the other brands but my Bushnell cell cams have a GPS locator on them grin

Zackly. Most are around $100; if the cops were standing there when the perp drove off with it they likely wouldn't do anything. Just buy one. The likelihood of it being stolen is pretty low.

Could be wrong but I'm thinking that once the EIN of a cellular game camera is registered to a specific user via their online account, it can't be re-registered by someone else. Also, should the person attempt to use it as a traditional camera within range of a cellular network tower, it will transmit whatever images have been recently taken, not to mention it's location to the registered user's phone or account.

Of course it would be great if the camera manufacturer notified the current owner that someone attempted to register the camera, much like other online services do when changes are attempted to an active account.
