I went out to the lease yesterday...looks bad....most of the small ponds are dried up. I'm hauling water every couple of days. We have a small creek not flowing and small ponds in the creek bed are drying up fast. The deer are drinking from the water I have brought but only lasts about two days. All deer including big bucks are participating using my water. Our forecast looks as bad...no rain ...high temperatures not realized in years...averages of 100 degrees mostly for July. Last year the temps dropped to 96 and some rain. All better pray for rain..I am very concerned for the environment and our animals.

I went out last weekend to our ranch. Met with a few uncles and cousin and we re dug our pond out. Lots of silt through the years. Now we just need to wait on rain. Maybe get a tropical storm next month. Other ponds are low but will have water in them the rest of the year. Just praying that the rain will come.

Heading up to my place in Dickens Friday!! Need to repair a connection leak in well PVC.

Got about about 4 inches of rain at the begining of the June but near zero prior!!!!!

Hoping enough to offset a disaster Hasn't been this dry since I bought the place in 2011 when I added clause to contract if burnt up prior to closing deal was off.

Will update conditions next week from first hand observations

luckily we have well water so we are having no problems keeping water troughs full. Hopefully wells will hold out.

Looks like some rain in the forecast next week finally, hopefully enough to say so.

I found acorns on 3 different species of oak trees in the past few days. Shinnery either are loaded or do not have any. Live Oaks have a few but not many trees I have found so far. Red Oak was covered but only a few trees so far. Persimmons are about to turn ripe in the next week to 10 days. A few mesquites have beans that are about to be ready also. Mast crops will help in our area.

I haven’t had much in the way of acorns on the trees close to the house on our place in a couple of years. And I cruised the usually productive trees in the other parts of the place the last few years, and just don’t see acorns.

That's about what I've had since last October, you were lucky.

Just got back from my place. Deer literally ram towards the sound of the truck and watched and waited for me to fill up feeders. Country is very dry and oaks are losing leaves. Deer looking pretty rough.

I want to catch them eating mesquite beans. I got lots.

Put out more protein Monday than I ever have. It'll go very fast. I wanted a ranch.

I saw that Medina Lake is only 15% full. River has stopped flowing over the dam in Bandera. So, the only thing going into the lake now is the sh*t water from the sewage plant in Bandera.

We have not had any measurable rain since October of last year on our place between Barksdale and Bracketville. With practically no ground cover at all I don'
t expect many if any fawns to survive this year on our place. Cows have been hauled off and sold. To say we need rain bad is a major understatement.

15% is being generous.

Lake is in rough shape….never knew how many zebra mussels were in that lake

My brothers place out near Hext looks terrible. A lot of trees never got their leaves back or just tiny leaves, they look bare. Less than 3" on rain this year. Some areas around him have have seen 4"

Comal River (fed only by the spring) is currently running at just over 100 cubic feet per second. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/tx/nwis/uv/?site_no=08169000&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060

Yep, it's Comal Springs, not Comal Spring. There are multiple springs and that photo is from the one most easily seen. It is foretelling.
