Anyone else have a 2018 Colorado or within a year or so , I’ve read, that has the “shudder” in the transmission? From time to time it feels like you are driving over the rumble strips in the road for a few seconds . Doesn’t happen all the time but a few times a week. I’ve read everything from changing to a different transmission fluid to a complete rebuild.

Anyone here have this experience and if so what did you do to correct it ?

Thanks,
Rob

That stuff makes you wish you still had the old 60"s and 70's pickups....except with a/c and maybe a real cup holder. Too complicated these days.

If it’s under warranty I’d take it to your dealer.

If it’s not I’d drop the pan change the filter and refill with the correct fluid.

If that doesn’t work, pending how persistent the issue was I would either live with it or try a similar additive referenced above.

From reading about this problem in the past didn’t gm recall some because of problems with the torque converter?

Yes , GM issued a tech paper that says change to a certain fluid, some say it completely fixed. Others say it only lasted a month or so. The other fix is a replacement torque converter.

I’m going out of town next week on business, I may leave it with a shop. I really like the truck and don’t want to get rid of it. Plus I just paid it off last summer

My 07 Silverado started shuddering pretty bad. Drove it like that a few months and put it in read about a guy that replaces his transmission and was still the same. Guy that put transmission in reached over and put it in 4wd and then back to 2wd. Said it fixed it. I said what the heck do I have to lose. It fixed it and hasn't done it since. Figured it dropped a bit in the bit bucket.

Had the same thing in my tundra. Consensus was that the transmission fluid was old and not creating enough pressure in the torque converter when shifting. Changed the transmission fluid and it cleared it right up.

I had to look it up. Lubegard 19610 Instant Shudder Fixx is a real thing.

My Yukon did this, was a recall for it and they programmed it and changed the fluid. Didn’t fix it totally and had a new tranny under warranty. But I have extended warranty so that may be it

2019 GMC Canyon had it when it was near new. Apparently the change of fluid fixed it. 50 k+ miles later and no shudder.
