Just bought a skid steer for clearing and land maintenance at the ranch. Have a long list of want and need attachments:
For those that have cleared what worked better for clearing mesquite. A traditional style grubber or tree puller similar to these:

or
https://idigtexas.com/product/tree-terrorizer-tree-post-puller/

Also-best place for attachments

We have a tree puller but it does not have anything to dig under the roots. I would get something that you can grab the truck with (like the tree terrorizer) My friend has one similar and it can do a lot of stuff.

Intimidator... Hydraulic jaws.... You can pull then pick up and carry an large mesquite with the skid steer like an overside broccoli plant to the pile.

After eating Payne's sausage I don't know if I can go back to the regular store bought stuff.

The Intimidator is the best one made for pulling trees and you can dig under them when needed. I’ve got several different pullers and a grubber bucket and the Danuser is in a league of its own. Their more expensive than most of these style pullers but we've got 2 sets and aside from ripping a hose off a time or two their pretty much indestructible.

I buy all my attachments from the CAT dealer and they’ve always gave me the best pricing but I’d just call around and see who has the best deal on a certain piece. I paid $3300 for the last Intimidator I bought but I’m sure the prices have gone up this year on those.

I’ll also add to buy quality attachments and don’t go for the cheapo stuff, they don’t last and the cheaper equipment is typically not made out of AR 500 and bends way to easy. I’ve tried saving money over the years and they generally end up costing more after you replace stuff that shouldn’t be breaking. Attachments take a beating and need to be built stupid heavy duty to last.

First time I ever drove a bobcat it had one of those attachments. Put in a lot of over time after my regular day to day those two weeks just so I could play with it lol. They are easy to use and work dang good for those pesky mesquite trees.

I’m sure it works great but the roots have to come up on Mesquite or your just wasting fuel, it’s almost as bad as Locust growing back.

Thank you for the info. Defiantly not going Chinese/Import. Rather do it right the first time and buy something that'll last and not need work or replacing.

Yep. I've had more than one contractor that doesn't understand this. Just creates more spraying that has to be done.

Another vote for the Intimidator. Got one, works great.

Have owned this one for years on front of my 773G. Think it was DynaMax It Will take a 12" oak down at or below ground level if used right and lesser size Mesquite as that wood is tough. They are pricey for sure. Have taken down a ton of trees and brush. Think i paid $10,000 grand back in 2004. Be around $14,000 or $15,000 now. Only way to go. [Linked Image]
