I have been taking 40MG Simvastatin every day since 1992 I see my primary care Dr. next month, Boy do we have somethings to talk about. Damn the V.A. they should know this stuff

So I’ve heard that bad things can happen if you quit the statins suddenly , has anyone else heard this?
VA put me on a statin about ten years ago because I came back elevated cholesterol on a routine blood test. If someone knows a weaning off procedure please share.

I’ve been on Adervastatin (spelling) for years but had recently run out. Called my Dr and he said no worries… high Cholesterol only kills you slowly!

They give me horrible back muscle pain.

Most (not all) cholesterol problems can be fixed without medication. But nobody wants to inconvenience of eating healthy.

I'm in the secondary benefit category. Had a heart attack in 1995 and just had another one a couple of weeks ago. I've been on Atorvastatin for a long time, and they doubled the dosage after the recent attack. There is a lot of misinformation both on diet and medicine effectiveness. Do your own research, talk to your doctor, and make your own decisions.

Vaccinated?

Been taking rosuvastatin for over a year now. Just had some blood work done last month and per the doctor everything is good. Visited the cardiologist yesterday and scheduled follow up tests in nine months. Had these tests about a year ago and found out that my LH carotid artery is
100% plugged and cannot operate. The RH carotid is 30% - 50% plugged no mention of operating.

So far I feel fine. Go to the gym 5 days a week getting ready for elk (cow) hunt in New Mexico in December. Try to watch what I eat and how much. I'm not letting this slow me down just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Turned it all over to God when he is ready he will call me home.

I can see a Whataburger commercial on TV and my numbers go up. I’m back on the Statins. I don’t like it but have gotten tired of being a vegetarian who has to enjoy chicken.

Never had a heart attack but lots of hospital visits to clean out my arteries. Doc says he can’t do any more and I have to take better care of my arteries.

Metamucil can help those of y'all with cholesterol issues. I take it for other reasons that daily fiber helps with, but it also helps with cholesterol.

I am a firm believer in using food to help turn back the clock and healing our bodies. One of the biggest problems in the US is the consumption of so many processed foods.

Atorvastatin 40mg daily post 5 by pass in 2020. Went elk hunting 90 days post surgery (that was my rehab motiviation). Now just so dang hot that I've not getting my walking in. I need a reset and incorporate some weight excercise or filling feeders next round later this summer is really gonna kick my az more than usual.

My mother said that my dad's memory went down hill fast immediately after starting a statin drug. She took him off right quick. It didn't matter though. He developed full blown dementia / Alzheimer's and eventually died from complications of Alz.

I just had a cardiac CT for Calcium and had a score of zero. My last echo stress was good and my bad cholesterol is good and my good cholesterol is a little low. All my heart health indicators are good to great, but the good doctor still wants me to take a statin. His reasoning is family history. Based on my research and recent test results,
I’m not going to be taking statins.

My wife just had a calcium CT, cheap and easy. Dr. wanted her to have one before he put her on a statin. He said if it's low no need for statin, she's good to go. I'm taking a statin but have really wanted to stop, I'm going to get the calcium CT and if it's good I'm getting off them.
