If so, you probably remember when kids played outside way more than inside and had to be home when the streetlights came on. No one thought it was odd or improper for any adult in the neighborhood to correct bad behavior by any kid in the neighborhood. You knew every kid in your age range within a quarter mile of your house. Almost every yard in your neighborhood had one or more trees with editable fruit - apple, orange, fig, persimmon, peach, apricot, tangerine, etc. And many had pecan trees. Every kid said, "yes sir", "no sir", "yes mam" or "no mam" when replying to adults. There were hardly any overweight kids. The F-word was hardly ever heard. There were ads like, "More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette". And so, so much more.
If you can't laugh at yourself, give me a call. I'll gladly laugh at you. "I keep trying to see Nancy Pelosi's and Chuck Schumer's point of view, but I can't seem to get my head that far up my [censored]." Senator John Kennedy, Louisiana

Every generation thinks they are better than the previous and next generation. It's always been that way and I don't see that ever changing.

We helped dad put the swamp coolers for summer. A cold Dr. Pepper was a treat. We ate supper together as s family.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Played outside all day unless raining and sometimes even if it was. Fishing, shooting pellet gun, exploring, golfing, and playing football. Roger Staubach lived across the street from the park we played in. We never could talk him into to being our quarterback.

The F-word was hardly ever heard.
I got in a fight and hurt the neighborhood puke for calling my best friends sister a MFer.

Buuing huge packages of Blackcat firecrackers, and unrolling to get the powder and fuses out to build our own munitions. It is a real miracle i have all my fingers.

Picking up bottles on the side of the road and turning them in for the deposit...so you could buy your own drink.
I lived in a very small town. On Saturday, if we could come up with a dollar, we would ride our bikes to the next town (8 miles each way) and get a hamburger, frys and a milk shake. Our parents were OK with it, as long as there were several friends with you.
Better have your own pump and patch kit, in case you had a flat.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Most all the above. Left our bikes on the front lawn overnight (no locks) and didn't worry about them being stolen. Never ever referred to our pets as "furbabies." Always had a baseball or football game going on in different vacant lots in the neighborhood. No daytime tv unless the weather was bad.

Regardless, all of the above rings true…..

Went to HS with guns in truck and didn’t lock doors. Coach or a teacher would come out to parking lot during lunchtime and check out your new shotgun or rifle......

We had a designated smoking area in high school.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Always had a gun in the truck at school in the fall and winter time. I had traps to bait or deer to hunt after school. I ran my traps in the morning before school. My grandpa was a farmer and I got in on a couple of years of chopping cotton and picking cotton and corn.

Born in 47, so I am a baby boomer. It was a good time to grow up. Rode bikes everywhere, unless you could hitch a ride on a Moped. In the summer I’d have my baseball glove on the bike handlebars. Wore out a Daisy Red Rider BB gun on the local birds. Picked up bottles like nak did, hoping for enough for a burger and a coke, or other times would use the refund money for a box of 22 Shorts. Life was uncomplicated, at least till I discovered that girls were ‘different’, and then it became complicated.
Back behind our house back then, when I was a preteen, there was a cultivated field. An old guy plowed it with mules. At the far end of the field was a drainage ditch. We’d make a fort in the ditch and fight off Indian attacks. Must have been about 1957 or so. I had a great childhood, even without the internet and air conditioning.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

Yep, born in 48. Pretty much remember it all. Picking up pecans, choppin cotton, pullin bolls, haulin hay, cuttin broomcorn. Was damn hot and paid $1 an hour. Also selling pop bottles .02 each. Had lots of money and good times.

Born in 60 on the cusp. Back of momma's hand taught me lots. At 6 foot tall, she hit me on the downstroke well into my teens.

1947 here also. If I wasn’t in a fist fight, principal’s office, or getting my weekly butt thrashing at home I was sick. All my friends were the same way.
