It’s an investment for sure. I wonder how long you have to make that ranch work for you to pay for itself.

Did he buy the ranch the 6666 had in Montana? Hunted a ranch next to it for elk and deer several times.

GUTHRIE, Texas – The Four Sixes Ranch, or 6666 Ranch, is officially under new ownership.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Taylor Sheridan, who writes, produces and acts in the hit show “Yellowstone,” is at the helm of the group who made the purchase.
The Four Sixes Ranch is comprised of 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, which is roughly 142,372 acres, Dixon Creek Ranch in Carson and Hutchinson Counties, which is approximately 114,455 acres and Frisco Creek Ranch in Sherman County, which is estimated to be 9,428 acres.
When the ranches were first listed — they came with a combined asking price of $341 million.
Forth Worth Star-Telegram reported that the ranch was sold for $192.2 million on Friday.
The Fort Worth Business Press also confirmed the news stating “the sale was made to a group led by screenwriter/producer Taylor Sheridan, who grew up in Texas and graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth.”
Four Sixes Ranch has been featured heavily in the last season of “Yellowstone,” which stars Kevin Costner, among others.

The OPs numbers are off unless this was reported wrong.

You obviously missed the show. 6666 is where the send cowboys from Montana to toughen them up and teach them how to ride cutting horses.

I believe they also got 100% mineral right and there is a lot of oil production on the ranch, with the price of oil over $100.00 a barrel, right now it should be doing just fine up

Price was inflated due to minerals, with that said the ranch was under utilized because it was paid for. I image the lease back for the movie paid almost 30% of it already

We did some work on a few of those wells out there recently. Sheridan is part of a group that bought it, or so I was told by those working there.

His net worth was pretty minimal in relation to ranch cost. He basically part of the investment group that bought it.

My company put in a proposal months ago to land survey that ranch. If I remember correctly, there where 3 different parcels, the big one and then 2 other smaller parcels in the panhandle.

I do not doubt that but the owners of the 6666 bought a ranch that was part in the Dry Range of the Little Belts and Smith River valley that joined the ranch I was hunting on. It is not uncommon or at least in the past to Winter some of the TV and Movie horses in various locals. One Ranch I fished on the owner had pics of several of them including James Arness with his buckskin from Gunsmoke. James wintered that horse on his ranch for several years. Wonder if that was part of the 6666 buying that place. That purchase was about 20 years ago.
