I picked up this shaft drive Big Red up from FireNguns in the Trading Post a few months ago. It needed a bit of work and only took me 6 months to getting around to tearing down my not restorable parts big red and using those parts for fixing everything on the new shaft drive. Some of my aftermarket parts swapped over as well. Forks on both bikes were just too far rusted and pitted that it would have been a constant problem for the shocks tearing up the teflon inserts and letting grease out and water in. Most parts for the shocks are non existent and what is on ebay is either crazy expensive or trash. I fixed that problem. Shocks and forks are packed and injected with silicone for a fixed rigid and waterproof front end. It should easily last the life of the trike with no maintenance. The shocks on these when new had such little travel to begin with that I can't honestly tell any difference driving it with the fixed forks. I'm happy its' done.

This was the disk in the recoil start. Apparently specific to the 84 200es and 4 wheeler of the same year. Only replacements I could find they wanted almost $200. I clamped it with some two part epoxy, then 5 layers of epoxy making the repair stronger than the plastic. It has electric start, but I wanted the backup.

That is a cool looking rig. Would love to have one to play around with. Lots of good memories as a kid on one of those.

Just be sure not to put your foot on the ground during a sharp turn!

Ha, Ha, that makes my ankle hurt just thinking about it. I have ran over mine numerous times back in the day.

That's great. Nice work. Yep on a legal hounds deer drive back in the day in Ark, I turned a big red on dime to quick on loggin road and only thing that saved my leg/ankle was my .06 across my lap providing a wedge/brace. It has a nice crease in the furniture which I've never repaired to be a constant reminder to me.

This is like my 4th three wheeler and my 2nd big red. I drove the snot out of the others. Abused them, drove them for fun, and never did any maintenance, but I never paid much for them. I pretty much destroyed them, but it was sure fun. This new one I intend to take more care of and just use it to get from point A to point B and back. Having driven them off and on for several years, I of course know not to put my feet down. I had a stump guard and a brush guard from previous three wheelers that I was able to fit on this new one and it does make it a little more difficult to be able to put your foot on the ground. I had a large double gun/bow rack I could have put on the front and a big heavy rear tray that wraps all the way around to the foot pegs that I could have put on the back, but I decided to leave them off to keep the weight down and more streamlined. They were mostly only good for catching tree limbs.
