Awesome! So the Ranger is more of a pencil profile and the Protector is apt to handle more like my current rifle (0.730 in front of the chamber, 0.750 gas block, and 0.715 to the muzzle) but, it will be a bit lighter since it is a 0.30 bore versus a 0.223.

How does getting a complete upper look? Are they backlogged way out or just a little bit like barrels?

Thanks!
Sid

An upper should be less than 2 weeks

300 Hamr did some work this weekend for me. All high shoulder shots DRT with 130gr Hot-Cor using Sightmark Wraith. We're thinking the big boy was close to or over 300. Definitely the biggest pig we've shot on the ranch. My son is 5'2" and 80lbs for reference.

Eyeing a California compliant model .300 Ham’r - are the only differences the low capacity mag and the funky grip?

I got all my parts in for my 300 HAMR conversion end of last week and was able to put it together on Sunday. Got a few rounds loaded up to zero with this morning and start adjusting the gas block. Just a random, basic middle of the road load with 125 TNT's and CFE BLK. Started with a rough 50 yard zero to get me on paper for a 200 yard ladder test. Shot 1 round, adjust. Shot round 2, adjust. Shot 3 round group. 5 rounds downrange and I could kill pigs all day long with that load if I wanted. I think it will tune in real nice with a little bit of tweaking and break in. Also saw Powder Valley had a 500 count box of the 125 TNT for $97, ordered that and got it on the way to add to the 400 of them I got from Midway on sale last week. Things are coming together. Need a few days to fine tune that load then I will swap over to thermal and zero, then go kill pigs.

Why the expander die?

Why the expander die?

So I don't have to chamfer the case mouth to eliminate bullet jacket shaving and easier loading

Thanks for the reply. No signs of over working the brass by flaring then crimping? You are using 300 HAM’R brass right and not formed brass? I would assume so since you have all you could ever want but figured I would ask

I just flare enough so the bullet will barely enter the case mouth and yes I'm using HAM'R cases

djones I don't think your videos will ever be "all too common." You consistently produce great videos. I never get tired of watching them.

Hey guys and gals, on a cellphone so probably missed a beat to death post ...

Any reason to get an 18" barrel over a 16"? Running a Suppressor so weight and length favor something shorter. Might do an 11.3" in the future.

I have no reason to suggest an 18" .300 Ham'r over a 16" unless you think you have to try to get every little bit of velocity you can out of the cartridge. My dad and I both have 18" uppers and he also has a 16" upper. Much handier moving the 16" around in a blind though you wouldn't think it would be. For the ultimate in handiness get that 11.3" built. Took a couple of doe last season with my 11.3" and was very pleased with it's performance.

God bless.

So 300 HAMR will be the first thing I ever reload for. I got WC brass, 400 TNTs, 3 lbs of CFEBLK, and 1000 cci 250. I understand the basics of start low and work up on powder charge, looking for pressure signs and accuracy nodes.

I was curious if there was a known good loading for the 125gr TNT? Maybe what WC loads factory ammo? I understand that there are other factors that may effect the load (brass, powder lot, etc.) Would it be better to go off the muzzle velocity? I have a ProChrono. I will start low and work up the loads to be safe, but I was hoping to get an idea of what to aim for.

Also I have gone with the TNTs for target and varmint projectiles, but I haven't picked a larger game bullet, yet. From what I read here, the 150 SST, 135 FTX work well on deer. How does the 125 CC compare with those?

Thanks in advance for any help. I have been trying to get caught up on this thread, I have already got alot of information from that. I would be caught up already if our tractor had autosteer. grin

Shadowaviator, welcome to the forum

Hopefully a misprint above and you have CCI450s instead of 250

We use CFEBLK for our TNT load, can't give you a charge weight since lots vary, start low and work up based on velocity

Ah, yes, I meant CCI450.

Thanks for the info. I am glad I picked up a chronograph.

Also, thank you to Wilson Combat for developing this cartridge. It makes a nice all round hunting cartridge for a midwest ranch. One rifle for coyotes to deer.

It really chaps my chingaras that I find myself head bobbing to that song when I hate that band so much.

I’m not as tech savvy as some of these whipper snappers and I spend WAY too much time rooting around to find the few pigs I can find so I’ll never be a good video editor like The DJones. So, when in rome... I let Zuk and Company do the heavy lifting for that.
