Finally got my Ruger-made Marlin 1895. 45-70 Gov. I had been on a wait list at Scheel's for a couple months. They are not marking them up. They gave me a Scheel's t-shirt.
My botnet is bigger than yours.

Can you tell any difference in this and an older Marlin?

Ruger claims various improvements but they're lost on me since I've never handled the old version.

Roger that. I have owned quite a few Marlins over the years and would expect that Ruger would turn out a good product. That is a very nice looking rifle.

Jealous. I have the Remlin model and got lucky. No issues with quality as some on the interwebs and forums have reported. I load softer rounds for it as opposed to my 1895 cowboy.
Go shoot that thing!

The 1895 in .45-70 (regardless of configuration) is a "get it done" kind of rig...great choice of a fun (and effective) tool.

Congrats on a great rifle! Please let us know how it shots. Also does anyone know when we might start seeing new 1894 models? I am really wanting one in .357

Got the Steiner T6Xi 1-6 mounted and had a few mins to go to a range today. I love the rifle. I love the scope. But I need to spend more time with it. No problem.

I have one, and it’s clearly well made. Ruger made a few small improvements like smoother edges on the loop. It is threaded, which I don’t care for, but some will. They also made a change to the way the magazine works. I don’t recall exactly what it was, but I didn’t really understand how it was an improvement.
Mine is pretty stinking accurate, too.

I like the way that rifle is configured with the short barrel and peep. I like that a lot!
