The other thread got somewhat derailed, so starting a new thread regarding the timeline of events in Uvalde. This is information from Texas DPS that corrects information that they previously reported. This is pretty startling that nobody inside the school locked all doors and went into lockdown mode during the 12 minutes it took for Ramos to arrive at the school, begin shooting unimpeded at people at a funeral home (no school officer was present when he arrived), before he hopped a school fence and entered the school unimpeded. It took 1 hour and 12 minutes to finally kill him.

This is a failure on so many levels by the school district, school administrators, the school district police, Uvalde police, etc. As a parent, I can't imagine the pain those parents are feeling as they sat watching helplessly for so long.

Victor Escalon, a regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said he couldn’t say why no one stopped the now deceased gunman, 18 year-old Salvador Ramos, from entering the school during that time Tuesday. Most of the shots Ramos fired came during the first several minutes when he entered the school, Mr. Escalon said.

DPS officials previously said an armed school officer confronted Ramos as he arrived at the school. Mr. Escalon said Thursday that information was incorrect and no one encountered Ramos as he arrived at the school. “There was not an officer readily available and armed,” Mr. Escalon said.

Ramos shot his grandmother Tuesday morning and then used her truck to drive to Robb Elementary School, crashing the truck into a nearby ditch at 11:28 a.m., according to the timeline laid out by Mr. Escalon. The gunman then began shooting at people at a funeral home across the street, prompting a 911 call reporting a gunman at the school at 11:30. Ramos then climbed a fence onto school grounds and began firing before walking inside, unimpeded, at 11:40. The first police arrived on the scene at 11:44 and exchanged gunfire with Ramos, who barricaded himself in a fourth-grade classroom. There, he killed the students and teachers.

A Border Patrol tactical team went into the school an hour later, around 12:40, was able to get into the classroom and kill Ramos, Mr. Escalon said.

From this timeline, it looks like officers arrived quickly, and did engage the shooter, although unsuccessfully. At that point he was barricaded in a room and the officers were unable to get to him without tactical training/tools. the biggest question, I think, is how was he able to get into the classroom if the school was on lockdown...and if they weren't on lockdown, why weren't they?

This timeline will change.

If 911 calls started coming in at 1130, police should absolutely have been there faster than 10 minutes.
Uvalde is not that big, I think there’s a DPS station right down the street.

They will have to listen to all 911 calls, all radio traffic. Watch all bodycam, surveillance, dashcam.
Then you have to talk to witnesses, school employees and officers. To give a complete picture. Which probably won’t happen until Monday at the earliest.

I’m guessing I could be missing something but how does shooter just walk in but law enforcement can’t? Law enforcement should be able to shoot their way through any obstacle to get in. If this is true u go in as long as u can breath to try and save people and not wait for backup because u are the backup in that situation. Something just doesn’t sound right with the whole situation. Prayers for those devastated families. Also media isn’t discussing if this person had any psychiatric history with medical professionals and would be interesting to know who they were and what they knew. Trouble kids usually encounter an attempt at a therapist as a caregivers attempt to stop their behavior. Immediately they are trying the gun grab like the fools they are instead of finding out who this person had interactions with. Mind control is a real thing and I’ll just say it it doesn’t all add up. My opinion is these people we have running things have no limits to get their way and hate that innocent people have to get caught up in their agenda. I believe there’s several things at play right now and they will do more to keep changing news cycles away from them.It’s just pure evil.

As much as I respect the Texas Rangers, they are not very good at giving out details quickly.

Unfortunately, my gut tells me, there will be many issues regarding the response. Almost every active shooting training I’m aware of, dictates you go inside. No waiting on cover or swat.

I very good friend of mine left a large Department and went to Farmersbille ISD, they made it pretty clear to him what they expected in a response. No doubt I would trust him, if my kids were in his school.
To be honest, many ISD cops are looking for an easy days, weekend off, gig.

I tell people all the time, you many not be looking to get into something. But one day it will find you, when you least expect it.

Best timeline I could find is.
May 16. Salvador Ramos turns 18
May 17. Ramos buys an AR15 and 375 rounds of ammo.
May 20. Ramos bus a second AR15
May 24th. 11am Ramos shares social media post of guns and says be shot his grandmother.

1132. Crashes his truck, hops a fence
1140. Enters school from unlocked door.
1143. School announced on lockdown.
1144. Ramos fires at responding officers and barricades himself and starts shooting.
106pm.DPS, police and Border patrol storm classroom, BP killed Ramos.

Until the problem of kids wanting to murder other kids is solved…..secure the schools. I went through bussing in Oak Cliff from Jr. High to High School. We had so much fighting take place the put security cameras through out the schools and had police assigned to each school…. it doesn’t ruin your school experience….we got used to it and accepted it….this wave of attacks can be stopped by simply securing all schools…..

Yep. I read an article that the Israelis have had just six school shootings since 1976 and they probably live in the most dangerous place on earth. Their schools are hardened to a degree that an attacker probably won't be able to penetrate the perimeter much less breach a building. Perhaps instead of school bond elections going for new athletic facilities and band halls we should think about upgraded security measures instead. I won't vote "yes" for a new concession stand but I certainly will for the security of a school's students and staff.

DPS just confirmed that by video evidence that a teacher propped that door open. I hope that teacher can live with that decision.

What an incompetent group of LEOs that handled the entire situation. Just horrendous police work.

"Police incorrectly thought no children were at risk in the classroom where the gunman had locked himself despite repeated 911 call from children inside", the director of Texas Department of Safety said. At least 19 law enforcement officers waited in the hallway, because the commander on scene believed no lives were at risk and it was better to wait until a tactical team cold get key to the classroom before entering.

Yep a teacher had the side door propped open. Probably carrying stuff in from their car or something similar and not thinking of the security aspect. That would be horrible to live with.

Well, that teacher also heard the crash and gunshots outside and went back to the door, called 9-1-1 but STILL left the damn door open!

This school district has been subject to over 40 lockdowns this year alone due to illegal alien chases and such things. Perhaps the number of lockdowns this school district has had to deal with over the years has softened some of the admin and teachers to the threat that is really out there.

That sounds like a reasonable explanation. Cried wolf too many times.
