Fort Hood — named after a Confederate general best known for racking up high body counts while launching unsuccessful assaults — to Fort Cavazos, after Gen. Richard Cavazos, a Texas native who served in Vietnam and became the first Hispanic American four-star general in the U.S.

I guess they won't even consider Schwartzkopf

Hopefully the town of Ft. Davis , the Davis Mountains and Davis Mountains State Park will remain off the PC radar.

Although he is certainly deserving of a base being named after him (Schwartzkopf) flag
The Wokeness in charge deems him and all White people as privileged and not deserving of anything.

Yeah well, John Bell Hood wasn't great as an army commander (by that time he was a shell of man, literally) but there have been very few brigade and division commanders EVER to equal his talent and utter ferocity. And his Texas Brigade may be one of the finest American combat formations since the Revolutionary War. He was also wounded defending Texas itself in the Indian wars. I'm against changing history to appease certain segments of the population.

If you really want to stir the bees nest, tell them were changing the name to Ft. Bedford Forest

I work nearly 4 months out of the year to cover my federal taxes. How many days does it cost me to fund THIS unimportant task?

I spent 17 months at Fort Hood and it will always be Fort Hood to me. Best duty station I ever had out of 6 of them. They can change the name but they will never change the memory.

I'm not really into the PC crap, but it always bothered me that two of the biggest Army bases, Hood and Bragg, were named for mediocre generals.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I hope they really did good background checks on all of the people whose names bases are being changes to so they won't have to change them again in a few years.
