Did they have a cop on campus for security?

No words to describe the horrific act. Prayers sent to those affected.

Now 18 kids and 3 adults. 21 dead.

Just evil!

I drive a bus and waiting in the afternoon the parents that come to get their kid come to the door & they can't get in because the door is locked. The attendant has to know who they are before the door is unlocked.
Solution - Get some retired grandparents to volunteer about 4 hrs/day who have a CCL & put them through some training. Then post a sign out front "These premises have armed guards".

This is gut wrenching.

I already want to volunteer at the school a few miles away that 2 of my grandkids go to. I don't have to carry a piece. Just train me, gimme a radio, and put me in between the little ones and any potential whack-job.

Having two kids in that age group, the thought of something like this happening to them is more than I can think about.

God help us.

Way beyond comprehension. Can't imagine the terror those kids experienced.

To many teachers are liberal it will never happen. About 5 years ago, my daughters school has a program for dads to volunteer for the day. It was my day, and it was shortly after Parkland shooting. They asked if I was armed, I told them no but told them I had a gun in my truck.

It kinda went south and they told me to remove the gun from their property. So I parked my truck 20 feet away in the public street. They weren’t happy with my solution. Didn’t have the heart to tell them I had an AR15.

They didn’t understand I was there to help them. Weird

Big ditto. I was just at their school today for an open house. The dad they interviewed saying he couldn’t find his daughter hit way to close to home!

Tragic. Not sure if I could handle that as a father.

Lord, in our shock and confusion, we come before you.

In our grief and despair in the midst of hate,

in our sense of helplessness in the face of violence,

we lean on you.

For the families of those who have been killed we pray.

For the shooter—help us to pray, Lord.

For the communities that have lost members—their anger, grief, fear—we pray.

For the churches striving to be your light in darkness beyond our comprehension, we pray.

In the face of hatred, may we claim love, Lord.

May we love those far off and those near.

May we love those who are strangers and those who are friends.

May we love those who we agree with and understand,

and even more so, Lord, those who we consider to be our enemies.

Kyrie Eleison. Lord, have mercy.

That sounds good in theory. You’re not going to tackle a dude spraying you with 5.56. Your radio will not do any good. Only way to stop this is to put a round in the bad guys melon.

At my kids Elementry, jr high, and high school, you have to show ID on a camera and be buzzed in by the front office. Curious to find out how the he-she walked in. This should be a minimum at all schools

This sounds good, but someone who is hellbent on killing kids is going to find a way to get into a school. Most schools have big glass panes at their entrance which could he easily shot out, or somehow broken into with a hammer or ax or something.

Remember, when seconds count, the police are
Minutes away, and teachers and students are taught to hide in their classroom and be easy bullet fodder.

I told my wife i would be chucking kids out the windows to get them to safety, but that kind of common sense is not understood by those in charge of schools.

Unfortunately it is not the same protocol at every school. Especially the last week of school things tend to get lax.

Such a tragedy. I could not imagine and have no clue where I would be if this happened to us. I do not want to think about it but lets not Monday morning QB this deal

One more week and kids would of been gone and safe.

Well it should be. Give the people in the office a few more seconds/minutes to draw their guns (that should also be mandatory) and start shooting.

I get that if someone is hell bent on killing, there’s not much that can be done. But every little bit helps. Video I saw didn’t look like the door was locked
