My partner and I stalked up on a sounder of about 25 last night. My job was to shoot containment on the right side while my partner worked the main group headed away. Ended up with 10 in the truck, one way out in a deep broke field we could not get to, and probably another one or two that got out of the field before giving it up. Got a running double as well, and picked up 2 coyotes while we were loading hogs.

Thanks DNS!

Me and that guy hunt quite a bit together, neither one of us is too excitable as a general rule. Those big sounders if I get all amped up then I don't shoot well. The key for me is to stay calm and work the problem. Right at the beginning I got lost for 3-4 seconds with runners crossing opposite directions. But as soon as I settled and the pigs kind of picked a direction then bodies started dropping. They were also running to the right, which as a left handed shooter I do better with that swing. We always set up with him on the left and me on the right to play to our strengths.

BTW, we were both shooting 6.5 Grendel. He was shooting factory 123, and I was shooting my reloads with the Sierra 85 HP's. My opening shot was the Bill Wilson "favorite" shot placement. Quartering to, half way up the neck. I agree with him 100% on that and wait on that shot whenever I can. Stick a bullet there and it really doesn't matter too much what you are shooting or how big the pig is. High probability it is going down with no follow up and normally won't even take a step.

I do have a 300 HAMR barrel on the way for my second Grendel, I plan to convert it over and shoot the 125 TNT in it. That will be an economical load that should hit hard and save some wear and tear on my primary gun. In these times having multiple good cartridge and ammo combinations is a good thing. I've got tons of LC brass I can covert and I laid in a supply of CFE BLK. And I have lots of CCI 41's. I plan to give the Grendel a break for a while and let it rest. It has been run really hard the last 18 months or so. It works great, no complaints, but I like trying new things. And the HAMR really intrigues me.

Not bad at all.

Keep after 'em!

Nicely done. And it makes me even happier that I chose 6.5 Grendel for a dedicated hog rifle. It shoots the Hornady Black very well. Got a can coming for it that is currently in NFA jail.

Well, no doubt my both of my Grendels do a good job. No complaints at all. I have killed truck loads of pigs with them. But my backup gun in 6.5 Grendel I am converting over to 300 HAMR. I've been impressed with the performance I have been hearing about on it and want to try it. Plus in my mind it is never a bad thing spreading out various loading components, brass, bullets, powders and have multiple options. That way if one thing gets scarce you still have a chance at the other. Last week I found CFE BLK, and 125 TNT's in volume at a good price and decided it was time to take the plunge, so I ordered everything. Barrel, dies, brass, powder, bullets. I plan to run the 300 hard for a while and take some load off my primary Grendel.
