Yep a lot of whimpy young guys out there today. When introduced to one and handshaking I feel like I'm shaking hands with a boiled noodle. Weak handshakes give me the creeps.

I have shaken hands with people like that from kids to 90 year old men, some just don't know any better. There is an Aussie I know that comes by to visit us at work sometimes. When he shows up, you better be ready, that guys has a grip like he77 wont have. Fine line on handshakes, firm but not obnoxiously extreme is appropriate. I've shaken hands where strangers have put the death grip on my hand and it's dumb IMO. Are they trying to show off hand strength or something, just dumb in my opinon.

No clue, been short all my life. Fell sorry for my son, Momma is 5' even and I'm 5' 9", I imagine he'll fall somewhere in the middle. Who knows maybe the milk man was 6' 7" or something.

I'm shorter than my brother and he's older so I guess so.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I was actually thinking the opposite myself; younger folks out where I reside, Flower Mound, TX seem leaner and taller than prior generations to me. Could also be a byproduct of clothing younger folks wear nowadays versus prior generations; younger folk seem to go for more tapered, slim fitting attire nowadays to accentuate a more lean appearance. Think a lot of this is based on demographic of where a person lives as well.

I am a school teacher, and sadly, I am not tall.
I think about it every single day of my life, but life goes on.
As to the topic:
I can tell you by observation that overall, the current young generation of students are way, waaaay taller than before.
Sure, there are small people, and keep in mind, these are high school kids still growing, but overall, they are and will grow to be tall'ish!
When girls of 15 years are already 5'6" to 5'11", you know they are going to "gazelle and giraffe" over time.
The boys, forget it, yep, growing taller with each generation!
...!

Our family tree is getting taller, not shorter. From my great grandpa to me were all 6'4". My wife is 5'10" but her mom is only 5'2". Our son is 6'7" and daughter is 6'2".
Wonder what the next generation will do...

Boomers are fat, Lol. I'm quite a bit taller than my Dad, and taller than both Grandfathers were as well.

I’m taller than my dad and all my grand and great grandparents as well as I know. My wife is 5-11 guess you never know but I would guess the kids will be taller than average.

I’m 6’2” and the shortest man in my family. My dad was 6’6”, My oldest son is 13 and just got taller than me. I’ve shrunk an inch since I was playing ball. Wife got out the tape the other nigh and measured us. My feet have grown too as I’ve shrunk. I’m a 13 now and wore a 12 since 8th grade.

Yeah, I was at a new church when I was 19 and was shaking hands. I shook the hand of a lady and was less firm with the men, but still caused her a bit of pain, because I didn't know she had arthritis... and later the pastor shook my hand and dang near broke it...I was a good 5 inches taller and 70 pounds heavier than him, but that man could cripple ya. I've learned to temper my strength over the years, but some guys just wanna crush everyone. I'm not sure why.

IMO it's still mostly genetics.
My Mom's side of the family, lots of tall men all 6' something and slender with some muscle.
Dad's side all - 6' but stocky and strong as hell.
I'm 5'11", my oldest Son is short and he hates it. My youngest Son is growing like he is going to be bigger than me (hope he does), I call him bigfoot.
My brother's oldest Son is taller than all of us. In his 20's, in shape and strong. Nice kid, with a blonde man bun. I give him [censored], but the ladies love it so rock on....

It's easy to have a tall child. It's a three night process, but worth it. Get momma a few drinks, watch a romantic movie, take her to bed, gently rub her thighs, kiss her, turn over and go to sleep. The next night, get momma a few drinks, watch a romantic movie, take her to bed, gently rub her thighs, kiss her, turn over and go to sleep. The third night, get momma a few drinks and call me.

I know a guy who is 6'4, his Wife is 5'8, his Oldest son is 5'8 and his middle son is 6'7. Both his Daugters are 5'11. Genetics play more of a role than people want to admit. My dad was 5'10, my Mom 5'0 I topped out out at 5'6. Sister is 5'0. My uncles ( both brothers) were 5'8 and they married sisters who were 5'0 and one got a 5'6 son and the other got a 6'0 son and a 5'9 daughter.

I agree with others on the kids. When I was in middle school back in the 80's, you had a handful of boys that were over 6'. Now, I would say 25-30% of the boys are 6' or over it by 7th grade. Watching my son play sports in high school, most of the kids are in the 6'-6'4" range. You still have the outliers in the 6'6"+ range, but it's not that common. I think it's more to do with puberty and it starting earlier in all the kids. Many are reaching their full height by 8th grade and then plateau at that height. You still get the one off kid that grows 4 inches in their Junior or Senior year, but they seem to be the outlier now. But overall, I think I think the average height for boys is increasing.

But yes would be a 65% reduction though

Considering the obesity situtation of the overall population, the amount of food consumed at fast food and other establishments it should not come as a surprise. The nation's nutritional health habits is seriously lacking. Not to mention all of the plastics that are now being found in our bodies Does that come from the packaging of our food or the air pollution?
It is a form of evolution. What goes up must come down.

It is a form of evolution. What goes up must come down. That started in the 1960’s. The food pyramid is bogus. Who eats 11-14 servings of pasta a day? What people have been taught is healthy is anything but and it has gotten worse with each decade. What kept the earlier generations skinny ( note I did not say healthy) was physical activity now you can eliminate that and we are an obese nation
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
