Dog Is Critically Injured After Fighting Mountain Lion to Save Its OwnerA dog in Northern California was critically injured earlier this week after saving its owner from an attacking mountain lion. The dog is still recovering from its injuries, according to a recent Instagram post, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife says that wildlife officers are still working to trap the lion.
Erin Wilson and her Belgian Malinois, Eva, were walking along the Trinity River near the White Bar picnic area on Monday afternoon when the big cat attacked, jumping on the woman from behind and scratching her left shoulder. Eva, who was out in front, heard Wilson scream, and the dog immediately jumped in to defend Wilson..... https://www.outdoorlife.com/survival/dog-fights-mountain-lion-saves-owner/

Those Belgian Malinois are so awesomely smart. Got the right stuff in 'em. I might suggest getting a male Anatolian though. Better matchup for the cat.

Mountain Lions in Commifornia are protected so no hunting season. When big cats mature the have to go find their own hunting area. Which means they keep spreading out. I hope the girl and her best friend recover.

Would love to know if that Belgian had any training or was just a pet. If its the latter, that's an incredible testament to their instinct to protect their owner at all costs. I've always said my next dog would be a beglian Mal.

"Who's a good boy"??? Boy I know it is in California but the dogs name is Eva so I am betting it's a girl Quote A dog in Northern California was critically injured earlier this week after saving its owner from an attacking mountain lion. After reading the story, that dog and owner are lucky to be alive. The lion had clearly whooped the dog (expected), then the dog had to be saved by the owner. Considering Erin's size, with a little better planning, that lion could of had a two-fer

Malinois are some bad *SS dogs. Similar to a German Shepherd, but smarter and harder working.
If I had to have a protection dog, it would be a Malinois.

Mountain Lions in Commifornia are protected so no hunting season. When big cats mature the have to go find their own hunting area. Which means they keep spreading out. I hope the girl and her best friend recover. It's how they roll! In a few more years they will be more than there should be and they'll be killing dogs, cats, and possibly people in the subdivisions. But, being who they are they will blame everyone else but themselves for the overpopulation problem!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

You would be surprised how most dogs would fight to their death to protect their owner, just some are more capable than others.

This is wife's dog, he is a cute little fella, he only wants to hang out with me if my wife and daughter are gone, but you do not mess with this dog or my wife or daughter, a switch will flip and he will turn into a killer...I have no doubt this dog would fight to its death to protect us..
