Same. Like I tell the guys at work..... you ever see me running, you better be running too. Don't ax no questions, just run.

Yes Sir it does, you can go from running to swimming real quick lol. God forbid.

I be running to the Cody Jinks concert tonight. Running my ropers and a nice button up shirt. The GF hates it when I run my overalls in public, they embarrass her. I tell her I run things the way I want to around hera, and what I say goes.......right out the window. grin

Few weeks ago at a crawfish boil while wearing overalls. (Dude you eat 5-7lbs of bugs you want that lose fitting waist) someone told me that next year I did not have to dress up so much as it wasn’t a tuxedo event. I said good these are hot next year I’ll wear my convertible Overalls and no shirt.

I have used “running” when referring to what tires I have for decades. Other than that I don’t use the term much.

Tactifool asked me what I was "running" at the range one day. I took my white sunglasses off, In my best early 80's Austin, Texas Wooderson drawl I said, "Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packing, I got Tikka CTR, 20 inch med weight barrel, 1-10 twist, 2.5 lb trigger, got me a Leupy VX5HD on top, pushing 165 Gr of Hornady SST bad medicine 2900 FPS......I'm talking some F-n' muscle. Fist Bump, He said cool.

See that’s a perfectly acceptable scenario in which to use the term.

I laugh at folks like this. Most folks in the Army prefer doing everything “slick”…. I hope i never have to wear any sort of ballistic protection ever again.

We're going to run up to the ranch in the morning and move the water.
We live in a valley at 7,220 ft elevation, does that make us mountain folks too?

I was excited to get to this thread and y’all are mostly really going way off course.
OP only used the clothing as an example. His point was using the term “running” instead of something more appropriate like “using”.
I never heard the term till I got on this forum and I hear it on here a lot. I’ve never used it. The guys in firearms seem to use it the most so I assume it’s kind of special lingo so you know who’s in your club. Maybe like pig Latin or gang talk. NOTHING WRONG WITH IT but to everyday people any specialized lingo is like a foreign language. Kinda like some hunters will say they got a “50’s” buck instead of saying “150’s.buck”. Just from what I can tell on THF I have assumed it was mostly younger guys, especially into guns, and other guys that are into lots of bells and whistles toys.

The term "Running" doesn't bother me

What bothers me is "battle worn" stuff for sale

Battle worn triggers me

Good one, Creek. “Using” in that sense would be slang or lingo and “not appropriate” for every day conversation.
Unless you “use”. Since you used the term, I should ask you how long you been using….. bolt

Never. 'Can't stand to even see a "kit" in a movie. Freaks me the hell out. "Ray" is a perfect example. I love jazz and R&B. So many great artists thought they couldn't get by without it. Extremely sad.

“Kit”, see, there you go. Never heard the word.
In the restaurant business a commonly used slang term is “86”. It means you are out of that item. Once, we ran out of chicken livers so someone alerts every one by hollering “86 livers”. Well, everyone in any restaurant “club/click “ knew we were out but a Nigerian cook that was new started to batter up 86 orders of livers.
Suggestion mine, know your audience when you use slang/lingo…..

It's not a new term.

I always was disappointed to hear “No 29” after running someone.

Oh god I hate that term. Drives me nuts. It’s it that hard to put a “1” on front of the last two letters?

Someone say “ I think he’ll go in the 60’s” I’m thinking they are talking about a yearling buck.

Also, I’ve never heard a serious hunter use the term, it’s all been a bunch of wannabes trying to sound cool
