Yes.

The same road I'm talking about goes from 1 to 2 lane, back to 1, then 2 again. Every time it goes back to 1 lane, they slow down. It's like they are claustrophobic, so they cannot drive as fast as they could with a spare lane beside them.

Had that happen to me many moons ago driving back from Jacksboro on a hot day after working on the property all morning and almost got a ticket.

Heading East on 380 towards Decatur there were 3 cars in front of me, while we were in the single lane they are barely doing 60 mph in a 70 mph limit.
When it opened up into two lanes the second car moved over into the right lane and they all sped up to 70 mph and I could not pass, when it went back to one lane they slowed back down to 60 mph.

This happened twice before I busted a move when it opened up into a two lanes for the third time, I hauled azz into the right lane and of course they all sped up again.
I barely squeezed in front of the lead moron as that right lane ended, there was a THP coming from the other direction just as I merged on, he did a u turn pulled me over for passing on the shoulder. I shared with him what had transpired up to that point and that I thought I had made it onto the road before it ended, if not it was extremely close.

I also shared with him that I had busted my azz all morning at the hunting property and was just trying to get home in time to do my honey dues when I get there.
He asked me where the property was, I told him he said he hunted in that general area also.
He looked in my truck, saw all the tools and how dirty I was and told me to slow down and good luck hunting this year! Yeah no ticket happy3

Still cannot understand why people do that, speed up, slow down? Pick a speed dammit!

This happens a lot on 281.

It is the me generation. Those are the same people that load and unload their gear in the boat ramp with 15 boats waiting to use the ramp.

It's real bad out where we live in ETX. All the old retired farts will drive 25-30 on FM roads that are 55 - and there are zero places to pass on most of 'em. My FIL is the worst about this - even more so now that he's retired and REALLY doesn't have anywhere to be. I would be happy with 45-50 even...but 25-30 and all over the road is what it's gonna be.

I enforce it regularly, "Lane use sign" is the charge if you cite for it. I rarely write citations for it but I have in the past. If I'm on interstate and see someone coming that has traffic backed up I'll curb em and if they have an attitude they get to sign above my name. Ignorance of the law is not a defense to prosecution and its posted "Left Lane for Passing Only" all along Interstate.

I almost hit an old lady going around 25 mph on Hwy 36. I was cruising around a curve and came up so quick on her that I almost hit her. Thank God I didnt.

Yep, I drive 281 from Hico to Lampasas a lot. I don't notice as much of a problem in the passing lanes as in the 2 lane stretches when you can pass. 67 from 220 to Glen Rose has to be one of the worst roads for people that speed up and slow down.

I once seen an obituary about an old man and it said one of his favorite things to do is go out on Sunday and drive slow and see how many cars he could get backed up behind him. He's my hero

I will never do it after I retire.

One of the first things I learned almost 50 years ago, and practice to this day, is to not get in a pack (even if it's only 2) and stay out of others blind spots. I guess they're not teaching that anymore.

Yep

Maybe he chose his death.

Either car wreck, or gun shot. I am glad he is off the roads either way.

Oh, I think he just died of old age. Or maybe laughter seeing all the people behind him getting upset
