Curious if these things are worth the money or of it is better to use tue money for a known outfitter and not pay the up charge for the “cabelas” experience. They have some cool looking trips, and i was super close to getting a utah elk hujt last year. Just curious if anyone has done one of these things before.

My Red Stag hunt in New Zealand was a Cabelas signature hunt. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I haven’t but have friends that have. I’m not opposed I just haven’t found one I thought wasn’t overpriced for what it was.

Im friends with the guy who created and operates the program and one of the photographers who used to go on the trips. They are a little overpriced for what they are, but I look at it as a convenience fee- they take care of all the organizational stuff and logistics. If you want just to be able to swipe a card and go and not have to research or worry about anything, this is for you. If you would prefer a better value where you have to put in a little more legwork, then this is probably not for you

To me it’s not worth the upcharge….they use the same outfitters other booking agents use and charge a premium for it.
If you want a legit booking agent look up Neal & Brownlee
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

As I told the OP, I used them because this was my first ever Guided/Outfitted hunt, as well as the first time hunting out of the USA. I falsely assumed it would be overwhelming to arrange on my own. I felt as though they would insure the logistics were in order as they did. Having done many more hunts with outfitters since that I arranged personally, I do not feel the need to ever use them again. I enjoy doing the leg work, researching my outfitter and doing all of my own booking. The cheap duffel bag, thermos and poorly done photo book isn’t worth the added cost. It wasn’t a bad experience at all. But my outfitter is the one who gets all of the credit. You are simply paying for a service which in my opinion is not worth the fee they charge.

Epic outdoors would be my first call for a Utah Elk LO or draw hunt

Appreciate all the responses. These experiences seem to be what I thought they are, slightly overpriced or price neutral but something that take ss ome of the hassle factor out. I prefer to do more of the leg work myself, so was jsut curious if they offered "more" than what I could do myslef. It seems the answer is "no".
Appreciate you guys (BTW that's yankee for y'all)

Appreciate you guys (BTW that's yankee for y'all) A lot To be said for using a service that has pre-vetted the outfitters and takes away much of the guesswork, but it depends on where your going. Stateside, I don’t think I would use a booking agent exclusively, although having a relationship with one is certainly beneficial for last minute cancellation hunts. But overseas I would suggest one, just find one who gets their cut from the outfitter and not stacking on an surcharge for their service. As for offering “more” than what you could do yourself…..the answer is probably so, unless you are real skilled at booking hunts, securing tags, etc.

Pretty sure the outfitters have more incentive to make your hunt is successful when booked with Cabelas aggregate strength.
