Got a bill for my licensed SxS while it was on a trailer for going through tolls in Dallas. I called and explained that it was on a trailer, therefore no axles on the roadway. They are refusing to drop the charge. They can’t/won’t provide any rules on what they are allowed to charge for.

Anybody ever had to fight them for being charged for a vehicle on a trailer? Next time I’ll just put tape over the plate, I’m sure none of the Troopers will find that suspicious

Not related to your situation other than they are communists.....I bought my wife a new car after hers got totaled. I drug my feet getting her a toll tag until I got her permanent plates. Obviously, we racked up some "zip" cash tolls. I called them and explained the situation, they reduced the tolls and posted to my account. I ordered her a new toll tag at the same time. Next billing cycle, I got another zip cash bill, I called and paid that on time as well. Fast forward several months...I get another bill for $20-$30, I don't recall the exact amount. I called and explained the situation, I asked them to make this the final bill, I didn't want to received another bill in the mail, I wanted to settle any outstanding tolls and be done with it. They assured me this was it. Almost 6 months after the initial call, I received another bill. Again, $30 or so. There were no tolls listed and no other explanation on the bill, other than "late fees". I called and requested an explanation and reminded them of my previous calls. They blamed it on TXDOT and covid. I flat out told them I was refusing to pay it and that they were just fishing to see who would pay. They informed me that I could file a "protest", and I refused and hung up. I haven't heard anything back from them. I never did get an explanation.

Tell them you are going to send the information to the fraud division.

They sent me a 3rd notice for a toll within 3 weeks of me driving down the road. I never saw the 1st or second notice. It went from $5 to $45. They are thieves.

Always remove your tags when you sell or donate a vehicle. You can't beat them ever.

I got a bill from them on a truck that I had traded in. Called them and informed them that I traded it on such and such date. They said, "OK", and I never heard from them again after that.

Similar deal happened to me. I was pulling my car hauler trailer with my hunting Blazer on it back from the deer lease one day. They hit me for my truck, trailer, and Blazer. One way from 820 to 183 was $48.00.

You need to have documentation ready and contact the NTTA Ombudsman.

I had No RTS database plates on my unmarked car for stupid issues like this.

When my dad died and I sold his car and yes I kept the plates. They kept sending him bills, I had to provide a death certificate and prove I'd sold the car.

Keep fighting them Wade. The exact same thing happened to me while trailering my Grand National last Feb. I wrote letter after letter and made phone call after phone call. Eventually they went away. Squeaky wheel gets the grease Sir!
