my druthers, would be on a beach with a day of fishing......BUT.....i digress

we have speed passes

You can get guided fishing trips at one of the on-prem lodges/hotels(Polynesian, Grand For, and Contemporary. They just remolded all the rooms at the Polynesian, so they are nice. In fact the fishing trips are off a pontoon boat so you may be able to book it for whole family.

Disney is the cleaner resort and better lodging, Universal has better older kid rides and food.

Disney plan 3-4 days to hit the three major parks.

New speed pass system is very very different, it’s a play to really play product, but can significantly cut weight times. With that said it will have you covering some ground if you aren’t careful. Essentially you have to get up at 7am to book your rides and then checking throughout the day to get more. Bring spare phone battery bank.

You can cut some daily costs by Amazon priming a few things to room, like case of water bottles. Water is 4.50-5.50 a bottle depending on park

My dinner bill was stupid. Every night it was $300-650 for four adults and two kids. Food was ok, with that said we ate at the nicer on prem restaurants. If my in-laws were not there we could of cut dinner cost per person probably 25-50 a head just in restaurant choices

Tony Orlando went missing once. Do you know where he was found?

We went a few years ago. Spent a week there. The wife and I and our two boys who were 13 and 6 at the time. Everyone including the kids enjoyed universal studios much more than Disney. I think we did three days at Disney and two at universal and our family consensus was if we go back just do universal and don’t even bother with Disney.

I get it going to Disney once in your life is one of those things you just need to do but one day of it would have been plenty for us. We also made the drive to the beach once day while there and that was fun.

Not sure fun is the best adjective. It can be very entertaining though.

Buzz your biggest issue will be dining reservations if you are going in the next 90days. Your better restaurant are booked out pretty far. Especially the better Disney Springs ones

I’ve never considered a fun versus entertaining philosophical discussion before but the concept is fascinating. In retrospect, thinking through past experiences, I’ve described an event as entertaining when it wasn’t terribly punishing, but not hated.

I used to work for a major automation alliance parter with Disney. We would have sales meetings and other meetings inside the park. Inside Disney there are various interesting conference rooms with completely unusual and sort of hidden access points. Anytime I went there, always planned a free day before or after. We were encouraged to go enjoy and provided a pass.

Imagine going to Magic Kingdom by yourself without much expectation, thinking of your previous experience, herding kids. Soon you’re having an ice cream, then you see those characters, experience a few attractions, and before long you find yourself riding on small world.

You end the day full of fun, joy and happiness.

Now a days you would be the guy riding the the tea cup wearing the dress, tube top, make up, all while tiring knots in your beard, giggling as you get dizzy… or Let’s just say not normal is the new normal, but it’s Disney so there are no social constraints. Like I said it’s entertaining.

We took the kids back about 12 yrs ago. It was expensive, but it was clean… I will give them that. They have people all over and constantly sweeping up any little bit of trash that might be on the ground. The people there seemed to also be clean and care about their hygiene, Lol. A far cry from the sweat hogs you find at six flags.

Keep your eye on the kids around the groomers.

Also...do NOT take a pistol because by day 2 you'll be looking to eat it rofl

I think everybody on here has covered it, but there are different price points to experience everything. We've been 2 times with my kids and I would strongly prefer to never go again until I have grandchildren many years from now. If your budget allows, stay on site and get the fast passes. I liked the Contemporary Resort, which has the monorail right at the hotel. We also paid to get lounge access, which served cocktails and desserts on the balcony viewing the fireworks at night. My wife planned every bit of it via groups that are SMEs in all things Disney. We also have a good friend who is a Disney travel agent that handles all aspects of your trip. If you just merely show up without thorough planning, I think you'd be extremely frustrated.

I think of all the negatives, we are staying about 10 minutes away from The Park itself. I guess I'll be wearing UBER and the scooter rental place crazy.

slinger

Good point Judd, also if I got caught with a CW, They would probably put me in Western Village Jail roflmao

Buzz, based on your posts it looks like you'll be "tagging along" during the day. It also sounds like someone in your group has some knowledge of the Disney system.

Staying off site really puts you at a disadvantage on some of the "time saving" advantages.

Best advice is accept the "prices" and enjoy what you get done each day. Let the "Disney knowledgeable" person take charge during park visits (Disney app is a must).

Hard to make specific suggestions not knowing what parks you'll be in.

As far as rain..........treat it like fishing .......just keep on going.

Depending where your hotel is it may have a shuttle. The bonnet creek resorts like Hilton and JW Marriott have a free shuttle to the parks
