I picked up some powder at Cabelas and was comparing the old label (Western Powder) to the new (Westen/Hodgdon) and noticed they were made in different countries, Belgium and Canada. So, why is no one importing primers when powder is almost exclusively imported? We used to get Russian primers in the US. There are a handful of friendly countries that manufacture them. I don't understand why no one is importing containers full.

The only excuse I can see U.S. Customs giving us is primers are listed as explosives, powder is listed as flammable solids. Proper containment and handling makes it a moot point though.

No blind man, so I can buy primers period. Don't act like you live without anything imported. When you come out of that cave you live in, don't get on that high horse, just drive that vehicle made from imported parts. Of course I'll buy American again, when available. In fact, I'm hoping to buy Texas made primers at some point.

I am not saying this to start controversy, but there were a ton of regulation changes regarding importation under Obama.

I am sure some will recall the surplus Russian arms ban. I thought there was a huge thread here about it when it was enacted.

I am old, so the memory ain't as rock solid as I would like to think it is.

No controversy at all. That very well may be the answer to my question. I simply don't know.

all going to make factory loads. You can buy all the primers you need; you just don't want to pay the going rate. Kinda like if you were trying to buy a house now, better bring a tub - O cash.

maybe when the factories feel they have caught up building loaded ammo, primers will become more available. Just don't expect to pay a dollar per hundred ever again.

9X19 ammo has gone back to the same pre-scare price the last three crises so why not primers?

Pass the gravy.

I’m still hoping we get to see Ol Thumper and Gary break dance, or even thumb wrestle. I’d pay money for that. Video would do.

Because they are still selling like hotcakes at + $80/1000.

I seriously doubt we will see $35/1000 ever again.

Primers seem to becoming more available, I got 100 CCI 450s last week, dealer had several cases. Also had 2 8lb jugs of varget, prices are up and likely will never go back the pre-civid due to inflation. I paid $80/1000 and $339/8lb jug.
