I know this is only 25 yards, but wanted to be close so I wouldn't have to spend my lease time getting this Winchester on. The difference in groups between the good stuff and the inexpensive ammo I used to get close was night and day. I'm thinking I'll be about 1/2" high at 100. I'll try 2-3 shots in camp at a 100 yard target and then go try and shoot a pig in the ear, or a little behind. [Linked Image]

Nothing wrong with that!

Let us know how that 30 grain penetrates...I don't have any experience with it.

Thanks!

Mark

If the cheap ammo was on a brand new barrel before any fouling occurred, I’d give it another chance.

Winchester Model 9422m, this one is like 30 years old. New to me, but definitely been around.

What was the "cheap" ammo? Manufacturer makes more difference than the price.

I have never had any luck with 50 grain 22WMR.

I never tried Hornady because of the lighter than LR bullet and the price.

CCI MaxiMags are my go-to but I've owned a couple microgroove Marlins and a couple Old Model Single Sixes, not a Winchester.

Pass the gravy.

I never called it "cheap", I went with the more polite way of calling it crap ammo by referring to it as "inexpensive". I actually had a FTF, and it didn't group very well at all. It was some Browning branded ammo that was given to me, I believe .40 grain Hollow Point. I don't even now who makes Browning branded ammo?

Winchester makes Browning ammo I believe, and judging by the last bulk pack of Winchester rimfire ammo I bought I'm not surprised. Crooked bullets, bullets falling out of their cases, dented cases, you name it. I won't buy Winchester rimfire ammo again.

So packaging it in trays and calling it Browning Premium doesn't make it shoot better, in my experience.

Winchester is the worst rimfire I have ever used, LR or WMR.

Pass the gravy.

Didn't get to kill with it, but did settle on a 50/100 yard zero. Hard to tell much difference on elevation at these ranges.

Sorry that you didn't get to draw blood with it. I was hoping for a penetration report! Oh well, maybe next time!

Wrong set up for the WMR.
