A little while ago FJG posted about his large Bois D’Arc tree. I finally remembered to get a picture of this one. No idea how old it is, or what it measures.

That’s a big Osage orange! Know if it’s a male or female tree?

Wood of the bow. I like how it ages on knife scales or bows.

Lots of people call these trash trees and dig them up an burn them.
Personally I like them. I have seen deer and squirrels eating the apples.
They make good fence posts and make great bows, my brother has made several.

Trash tree was the 30-40 locust trees surrounding this one. Only thing they are good for is creating natural fences.

We call them hedge apples.

The old mature trees like this one are beautiful, the 100 plus years it took to get to this point their an ugly eye sore. Jason’s correct about the fruit bearings trees being female but I hate them all equally the same after tearing up enough equipment over the years due to their stubbornness to die a peaceful death LOL.

Dang how tall is your boy now? Looks like a 10 year old running around LOL.

That is a big tree for sure.

Also wanted to add I feel stupid, I didn't know a tree had a gender rofl

The oranges are supposed to make a good insect repellent when placed around the outside of your house.
