Hey guys, I would like to offer my over 20 year old project to some one for free. This is the basis of a 1984-1985 Honda Odyssey. The pictures from my childhood, show its a 250 cc belt driven engine. I would convert to chain if you can. The engine spins freely like the chambers are slick as ice, but the fuel tank is full of rust. Of course everything is dated, and even when I tried to restore it, almost all parts were discontinued. In 2000 or so, early days of high school, I grabbed it from old property before we sold it, stripped it. Sand blasted, painted metallic blue, and here it sits. The tires are "technically" brand new, never been mounted, but also 20 years old at least. I have all the schematics some where, and also if you are close enough, I have a machine that can make almost any part it needs. I always thought one day it would be a cool father son project, but the lord realized the earth can only handle one of me at a time, and I respect that.

Off the top of my head I know its missing the e-brake, seat bracket, fenders are dry rotted, misc electronics like light fixture housings, etc. But the main components are here.

So saying that, yes it is free, but there has to be some stipulations to accept it.

1. It HAS to be accepted by a team of a father and son/daughter, as a mechanical project for the benefit of the child, or children. Not just a "hold my flash light" experience for the boy/girl.

2. The project from the day it leaves my house must have a thread in the DIY showing progress results. It would be even better to document what he/she learned that evening/day. For example, the concept of air fuel mixture and how a carb works. etc. Doesn't have to be fancy and videoed and all that, but something we can monitor.

3. I would prefer someone semi local to North East Texas, because once completed, hell I just wanna drive it a couple times, then I will be good.

4. I am not saying this is a deal breaker, but I would kind of prefer a situation were the boy/girl is not already mechanically inclined. I'd like it to be a learning experience and of course not just an easy project.

Once you have completed it, I just ask to come, possibly bring my brother and father as well. Push it to the limit like the old days few times, then take a few pics and I will be on my way.

The main thing I ask is that, who ever reaches out, please dont pounce on the opportunity, when you truly know that it will take 6-7 years to complete cause of the rat race of life. I know, no one can predict how quickly they can finish it, but if you think its a reasonable short term goal (6-18 months????) than feel free to reach out. But!!! You also must promise if you realize you and your child do not have time for the project YOU MUST pay it forward to another team. No matter what you have already invested.

I am sure some other members will help me with more guidelines, and also I will be sharing you and your son/daughter with them publicly upon acceptance when you pick it up, and that's when the thread of completing it will be created for you guys to finish. Uploading pictures and details of work completed would hopefully be considered a priority please.

Reposted from original post. Picked it up cleaned up some stuff. Missing a few pieces. With work and life it’s just not going to happen anytime soon. My son has lost interest and I’m not taking any more projects on. Good bones and I’ve got some resources for missing parts I’ve bought a few things for it that will come with it.

Can 2 grown men load it in a pickup? 3 kids and 470 acres for them to run around on and I know one will be all over the project.

Thanks

I wish my kid was old enough for something like this, I know he’d damn sure love his own.

Don’t know how old your kids are but I got my 4 year old twin girls a pair of Polaris rzr 170 for Christmas last year. They were only 3 but they love them. They went from the bottom governed speed to top speed of 30mph in a few days. Kept telling me it wasn’t fast enough. This is a great project for someone

Hate to let it go but he’s lost interest and I’m not going to tackle it myself anytime soon so rather let it go than just sit here collecting dust until someone wants to mess with it again

He’s 2. He still thinks it’s fun to drive his electric monster truck into the fence, trees, and the shop.

brings back some memories - rolled one right over the top of two of the finders of my left hand in high school and messed them up pretty good. had to play baseball my senior year holding the bat with one hand. When you mentioned s Honda Odyssey to someone they always think of the minivan

Had a pretty good argument with the kid at the Honda dealer. Shut his cocky little self up when I have him a vin #.

But I want to see this revived again. Plenty of people wanted parts off of it but it’s still in good enough shape that it’s fixable.

Back up haven’t heard anything from the last person wanting it. Just hate to let it rot away and would like to see it going again.
